No Eggs? No Problem

I adapted the recipe for Egg less Peanut Butter C ookies , by using natural peanut butter, and lard (v s. shortening) .  Once we have goat's milk again, I will bake these again, using organic butter and goat 's mi lk ( vs . the buttermilk ). These were pre tty good, and I got about 6 1 /2 dozen cookies, by using my smaller pampered chef cookie sc oop.   I think these woul d make a wonder ful addition to our Christmas cookies next season too.  And I am betting they would freeze well.

The next time you go to the store to buy any artificial flavoring in any food , consider what it's made from.  According to Snope s.com , the FDA con siders Castoreum (part of it is beaver urine) as safe , and can be found liste d as "natural" on the food lab el today. Read about it here:  Snopes. com :  Casotreum You'll think twice before buying a Raspberry or Strawberry flavored Iced Tea at the check out again .   I wonder w hat else the government is adding to our foods? It's bad enough to search out stores that don't have an tibio tic/hormone free foods, let a lone genetically modified food s /ingredients. And some folks think I'm crazy for growing my own food/meat and making things homemade.   Sickness remains in my home.  I'm not sure what it is, but three of us are down for the count.  My 19 y ear-old daughter missed her college classes today, and my 20 year -o ld son stayed in bed almost all of ye sterday....

We woke up today with all of the snow melted.  The w eather w as still chilly over the past weekend , but today it said to be as warm as 43°F.  Here is my olde st daughter's birthday "cake ."  She wa nted cupcakes, so she frosted them so you can see the number 1 9 (white ).  S h e topped them with candy canes, an d crushed peppermi nts and blue sprinkles.  She was originally due on Valenti ne's day the year she was born, hence the hearts made with candy canes. I'm readin g yet another home reme dy book, and have been surprised at a few things I have learn ed (if they are indeed tru e). ~if you take too much zinc (more than 30 mg a day, acco r ding to the book ) you can a c tually ruin your immune sy stem.  I found this interesting and plan to do more research. ~you can soak your feet in a warm tub of water and dry mustar d to help your circulation.  It is said to help remove head con gestion, b y causing the blood to go to your feet ...
