Random Tidbits

It's confirmed that one family member will raise the meat birds in the spring for extended family.  We will all chip in for how many we want.  We are thankful for that. I finally finished the sleeves on the cardigan.  I am now finishing up the back panel and have one shoulder panel to do, then I can sew it up. I'm tickled pink that my husband bought me this as an early Christmas present.  I can keep a few projects organized and not sitting all over in different project bags. Question for those who buy faux fir balls for hats:  where is the best place, for the best price, for the best quality to buy online?  Neutral colors?  I don't want 4 inch ones either.  I am looking for the ones that are a bit smaller and less awkward looking. I finally got around to getting some more homemade seasoned salt made.  It's great for a lot of recipes.

The garden has taken most of my time out of my day, so very little handiwork is getting done.  I still have some items on hooks, that I had on them months ago. . . . patriotic dishcloth still on the knitting needles . . .finished this crocheted dishcloth . . . started another thin dishcloth in bright coral and white (my to-go project) . . .another dishcloth/washcloth on  the crochet hook I have a lot more in project bags etc.  I am just concentrating on these first.

On the Hooks ~ Frost Warning (again) ~ Spearmint Seeds Inquiry

Crocheting a rag rug.  This project is on hold for now.  I am having to use all my spare sheets and pillow cases to cover my asparagus, rhubarb, etc.  We had another freeze/frost warning.  Once the cold wave passes, I'll make more strips of old sheets to finish this rug. Knitting a dishcloth in red/white and blue. A set of pot holders.  Sorry for the bad photo. Off the hook. . . A new dishcloth pattern.  I learned the waffle stitch this year, which is very easy to do.  I however, feel this is way too thick for a dishcloth.  It also uses twice the amount of yarn than a regular crocheted dishcloth.  It's going in my stash of cleaning cloths and will be used for that. I dug out my tatting, but haven't yet got back to it to see if I even remember how to do it.  Could be fun.  Who knows. Does anyone have extra organic spearmint seeds?  My potted plant died and I cannot get the seeds from ...

Finished a navy headband for my oldest daughter. Finished these knitted dishcloths to sell.  They are almost restocked for the next craft show. Finished another mug/coaster set. Finished a set of elf boot cuffs for Youngest daughter.  I'll most likely adjust this pattern for a shorter top on it, and round the top round in white vs. green yarn.  Small bells will be sewn onto the tips of the red part too.  Or possible leave them as they are, and give buyers an option prior to a craft show.  I guess you could glue on pom poms too.  It'll be interesting to see what Youngest wants on hers.  She can't wear them to school, but can elsewhere.  This pattern is for sale at Etsy by AllieCatsHats (not an affiliate, just sharing). Started this scarf for an order for a Christmas present. Current dishcloth on the knitting needles. Current lapghan on the crochet hook. I got a set of boot cuffs croche...

Happy Homemaker Monday

I'm joining Diary of a Stay at Home Mom today.  It's Happy Homemaker Monday!

Projects in Progress

W hat is on my knitting needles?   A dishcloth. What's on my crochet hook (s)?

Snow ~ From the Handiwork Journal . . .

The weather dropped in digits on Saturday.  I was not ready for that.  It was raining and cold.  And a bit windy.  I guess in our parts, our garden season just got shorter.  And on Sunday? It snow ed.  Timmy was not happy either , as you can see.  Snow in May?  Unbelievable!  I refused to start a fire , even though we still had wood on the porch.  Crazy I say.  Just crazy.

Flood Warnings ~ Porch Time

We had pretty good day in the garden, and I am kind of glad we did not get the weeds out between the smaller pepper plans, green beans, zucchini, tomatoes, nor the carrots.   It's raining again, but today's forecast is 100% rain, heavy rain, windy, flood warnings, and flash flood warnings.  We are to get 1-5 inches of water.  Maybe the weeds will help protect the plants from the wind today? I also successfully weeded half of the herb garden.  The green onions look terrible this time of year, but I do see little sprouts forming already.   I picked more berries, cut some oregano, and had a daughter shell peas for me, and clean off the dried thyme.  Overall, it was a pretty good day, all things weather-wise, considered.

Romper Room ~ Surprise Mail and Tidbits

I have been trying to get clips of the kids (baby goats) romping around the kitchen, but I end up laughing so hard, the videos end up with headless goats or just feet.  Or, as you'll see in the video, the dogs get excited when they hear the pitter patter on the floor.

Crocheted this fun, yet fancy, dishcloth.   I may make more over the winter yet.  This one is going in my kitchen.  It's made with #5 cotton thread.  My first time using that thickness.

Front cover (so rry for t he tablecloth behind it, it is too much of a busy background to really see the jo ur nal cover)  Back Cover Remember these fun watercolor journal pages?  From way b ack in July of 2012 ?   ...I decoupaged recycled cardboard, using magazine pictures, and made a front and back cover.  I punch ed holes and tied on aqua organza ribbon.  I just need to fill in the pages. ... knitted a few m or e dishcl oths. ...remember this project?  It is my second knitted shawl.  I can 't even remember when I started it.  It 's finally done, but I am disappointed in the size.  In the book , the s hawl goes way past her wa ist li ne, and well over her shoulders.  She must have been pretty pet ite, because th e fringe on this barely goes to my wa ist line.  This pattern is clear y not for 6 foot am azon women.  Needless to say, it w e nt to one of the girls.  I love...
