Chargeable Light Bulbs

I had a friend tell me once, "if you give everything away, you'll have nothing."  Believe me, what we are getting rid of, is no longer used, or even needed.  However, we replaced our nightstand lights and had the two antique lamps to deal with.  My husband wanted to keep them, and I was ready to sell them.  However, we made a compromise.  The cords were an electrical hazard, and he just didn't want to take the time to replace the cords.  I got tired of staring at them in a box on the floor. I had an "aha!" moment.  I cut the cords off (he can replace them any day he wishes if that's the case), and bought two chargeable light bulbs.  We have end tables in our living room, where it needs light, but no way to plug a cord in.   The bulbs work great!  Three settings, comes with remote with dimmer and timer.  I'm happy, we have extra light (especially in the dark days of winter), and he's happy we have the lamps. I am however,...

Happy Homemaker Monday

We thankfully got rain all weekend, however it is too wet to work out there this morning.  I'll be weeding from the sides fo the flowers beds however.   I finally found where I got my washcloth pattern.  It's from Cream of the Crop Crochet .  There are ads on the page, but I absolutely love this pattern for a washcloth.  Left is my old pattern, and the one on the right is the new pattern I found free online. Today I am joining Sandra at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom. I will link up when she posts today. The weather . . . Looks like we stay in the 80's with more rain this week. As I look outside my window . . . Flower beds look horrible!  Full of weeds. Right now I am . . . Making a 2nd pot of coffee.   Thinking and pondering . . . Apparently we bought two different shades of corner trims (for the bathroom), so we have to return 3 pieces and pick up 4 more.  Trying to figure out if we can go do that tonight, or pay the handyman to go do it ...

Digging Day

I woke up disappointed it had not rained like they had said it would.  I have spent so many indoor days cleaning, that I was actually looking forward to the next extreme clean job.  I had very little motivation to walk to the garden. After him-hawing, eating my bacon/egg scramble with an English muffin toasted and slathered in butter, and making 2 pots of coffee, I finally put on my garden attire and headed out. I am so far behind at digging up the remaining garlic, and had waited for the rain to soften up the ground, so I started there.  We only got 40 of the 56 Russian Giant that we planted.  We planted 70 of the Moroccan Creole, and I bet we'll get 15 if we are lucky.  Not sure yet on the original variety we were gifted years ago yet.  Although the rain has barreled down, it's so dry out there that I bent my digger. Note:  speaking of garlic, I'll have a post soon on dehydrating it.  Well, some of it, ha ha! While others are swimmi...
