Hiccups Continue ~ Barn Roofing Installed (or not)

He he, ha ha, ho ho.....looney bin do not suck me in.... Monday, Hubby pulled a double-whammy on me.  Just after he got to work, he called and said he had barn roofing and was on the way home.  I had planned to take it easy (ha ha ha!) To gear up for the work, I had infused a nettle/mullein/oat straw tea and added juice of a lemon. My throat needed all the help it could get. He arrived. We hooked the lift to the borrowed truck, ripped out some of the chicken run fencing, and ever so gently backed the lift in by the animal barn.  We cut the roofing to fit (or so we thought we did), got it in the lift, and sent Hubby up. Only the battery wasn't charged.  We forgot to charge it overnight, in all our excitement.

Bird watching and other fasicnating fun. . .

My to-do list was s o long on Monday (washed rugs, rags, bed quilt, bathrobe etc .) , I woke late on Tuesday.  Literally.  I oversl ept by an hou r the next morning.  Sigh.  I knew I was pushing too har d.  I took the day off on Tu e sday, as it raine d anyway, so I couldn't work outdoors. Or so I thought.

Homestead Tidbits ~ Red Raspberry Plants

The snow did not hurt my daffodils, or even the new sprouts of green onions in my herb garden.

A Barn Discovery

Our largest barn is set for destruction next year.    We have used this barn, and even updated parts on it over the last 5 years, but it's too much for us to invest in.  The loft has caved in from one of the storms as well.   The roof, on both sides, have been ripped off over the years from storms as well. If we had the money, we would save it, but we can't. However, we are using parts of it to repair the other two barns.  Yesterday, I was walking Alias, and looked up at the barn.  For some odd reason, I discovered something I had never seen before.  It made me smile.  Do you see anything yet?  Look to the upper right of the window. Ha ha!  Now to you see it?  This made me laugh.  There are four license plates, from 1971, used to patch the barn.  When the barn comes down, I want to recycle those plates one more time.  Even after being used on this barn for 42 years.  I don't have a ladder tal...

Wacky Weather

We went from this on Jan uary 2 6 th , to .... ...this a few days ago - warm and muddy mess .  I had to wea r mucking boots out to put my l aundry on the line.   Today it's snowing again.  All in a days work. We now have t hree of us down with the crud.  I may have to make homemade cough syrup yet.  Looks like on e of the kids will be cooking dinner again.   My oldest daughter , alt hough started getting sick la ter last night, stepped up to mak e dinner.  She was creative and scrambled eggs with my home canned salsa, and made egg sandwiches on English muffins .  For the side she cut up potatoes and fried them with cumin.  I reg ret not getting a photo.

High Winds Rip Barn Roofing Off

The opposite side of this barn (same end) has roofing missing from the tornado winds that came through about 2 years ago.
