Pioneer Woman at Heart

I printed this pattern from the internet.   It's a cat bookmark.  I gave the pattern a w hirl.  What do you think?  I did not have fingering yarn, so I used #3 cotton (coffee) .  The ears still show holes, unlike the photo, where the ears a p pear solid, but the kids liked it.  I do need to sew in the ends a nd and block it .   I actually made that a few night s ago .  My hands hurt too much to do any crocheting la st night.  Yesterday I spent the day doing laundry, and weeding flower beds ( with a lot more to weed yet ) . I woke up today to rain an d the temperature a bit chilly.  I t should warm up, and I will be heading out to plant in the vegetable garden.  The peas are up about 3 -4 inches now.  I bough t Nasturtium seeds, to plant along the squash .  I 'll let you all know if it really does rep el the nasty , pain in the rump, squash bugs. O nly in our home, will you see a crazy woman, jumpin...

I thought I would share the be auty that surrounds my front porch early in the spring.

The bi rthdays a nd Mother's Day are over now, and it 's back to work for me.  Last night, the temperatures were to go as low as 31°F.  Brr!  Today, the high is not even up to 60°F, but the flower beds out front, need weeded.  T he temperature is to rise up to the 70 ' s all week long, after t oday. T he roses were a gift to me on Mother's day, alon g with the new basket filled with gard en gloves, a new water b ottle, and sun screen. ...and jewelry (and more I fo rgot to photograph) ...and hand wr itten cards and poet ry ...and my son is in the process of drawing me this.  I also received a new book, some coffee and cheese cake.  I have yet to eat a piece. Both my son and I, and a few ot hers are still figh ting off head colds.  I backed out of going to the movies , and opted for cr ocheting an d reading at home.  Ye sterday, Hubby fixed dinner so I wouldn't have to.  Today, I should have a few more sta lks...

Hap py Mother's Day !  That's me up on the horse, in front of my two sisters and oldest brother.   Mom and Dad are standing. 

I've been using my rubber stamps to spruce up plain w riting paper to hand write letter with .  I only have one color of ink, and a f ew stamps, and still I am having fun with them.  I am stamping my e nvelopes too. I can see that I will need to save up and get a few more colors of ink and a few more stamps (of my favorite things).  I got th ese pa ds of paper at a very low price, and can reuse my stamps for anything . Mom is getting a hand wr itten/homemade Mother's Day card.  My Aunt is getting a hand wr itten le tter this week too.  Anyone else writing letters /cards this mo nth?  Happy Mother's Day to all!  

You know you are camera cra z y, wh en you son s comes in the house, tells you there's a vulture in the road, and you get so e x cite d running through the house to get your camera, and run out side to ph otogr ap h it (for your family's bird photo album), that the dogs thin k you are being attacked .   To be hone st, I was too far away, and shou ld have crept up closer and hunkered down in the grass for a more con cise ph oto.  But the heads on these things intrig ue me .   This morning , I took Sadie (one of the dogs) out to do her business, and spotted this little guy.  I've seen him/her flying around the place, and told myself I would get a good pho to.  Well, I propp ed my elbo ws on the trash can for this one, but a bird above me started squawking, and off w ent the yellow finch.   

  I turned 29 (again) ye sterday.  He h e!  My 19 year-old gifted me th ese beaut iful flowers.   Aren't they pretty?  My gifts were a complete surprise .  I never ex pected my ki ds to buy me an ything.  I told them I just wanted a clean house. My 21 year-old son gifted me a Bl ue Ray pla yer.  You s h oul d have seen me trying to use the remote.  W here's the play button ?  W here's the pause button?  Ha ha ha!   The cool part is, is that there is a "netflix " button on it too!  Yay! My mother and kids gifted me th ese beautiful cards.  Mom's card contained a little extra somethin' that I will save for my weekend on the island .  My youngest d aughter gifted me with a coupon for a brea kfast sandwi ch - Yum!  My 13 year-old's card con tain ed wishes from her school friends. And I received many Happy Bi rthday text messages and some Happy Bir thday e-mails. My 11 year-o ld, wit...
