What was I thinking?

It was 100°F yesterday, and yes I did garden work.  Watering everything has come first due to the lack of rain (we didn't get enough).

It's going to be up in the 100's again today.  Yesterday, I put my chargeable fan on the chickens.  They love the frozen water in tins to cool off better than anything right now.

I thought I would get so much more done by June, and I have not.  What was I thinking??

I thought I would get the baby blanket done.  Ha!   It was only something to use up yarn and store for gifting.  It's still not done.

I thought I would get a few lapghans done for extended family, and have them delivered by now.  They have yet to be delivered to the assisted living home they are in. Sigh.

I can't even get to the library to return a book, and pick up a book.  Eye roller.

I forget to check my email on a daily basis.

I contemplated starting a crochet group once a week in our home town.  Big eye roller.  I had big ideas, but have so little free time.  I honestly thought it would bring people together, and get to know each other, and help small businesses in the process.

Heck, I had plans to purge more craft supplies this week, and that never happened at all, ha ha!

The days have been flying by in the blink of an eye! Our garden has been lagging because we got it planted late and yes, I have to water every evening because we have had NO rain in a long time. Ugh.

I bought some super chunky yarn on sale, on line, from Joann Fabrics. I ‘m waiting for it to be delivered. I’m going to attempt an afghan. JF is struggling. I hope the local store doesn’t close. There are so few fabric stores left in this area. In fact, it might be the last one. 😩 oh, I forgot to say: I went with Bernat Softee Chunky Super Bulky Acrylic yarn. I hope it doesn’t get fuzzy.

We are cooking ribs on the grill tonight as a thank you to a friend who has been helping my guy with several woodworking projects. He put a spice rub on the meat overnight. This afternoon, I will cook the ribs in a very low oven for about 2 1/2 hours. The final step is the outside BBQ with the wet mop, as the recipe says, “for as long as you can stand it.” Talk about drooling! We will also have some balsamic marinated veggies cooked on the grill and macaroni salad.

Take care and stay cool, Katie C.

My plans are always much more than I'm capable of for one reason or another. I still think you're getting a lot more done than I ever could.
Blessings,
Betsy

Bloody hell you did gardening in that heat, I would be inside with the air con going.

June has really flown by, hasn't it? I seem to be plugging away at the same things day after day.

The frozen water for the chickens is a great idea! We aren't as hot as you ("only" in the low 90s) but I'm always looking for ways to cool off (for everybody).

Katie C, the ribs sound delicious. We haven't even been using the grill but once in this heat wave. There are many stores struggling in our area. It makes you wonder what will happen in the next few years.

Thanks Betsy, I always feel like I'm not getting that list of mine checked off.

Jo-Anne's Ramblings, I try and get out to the garden very early, but it is still hot for sure.

Leigh, this entire year is going by way too fast. The chickens absolutely love the ice to stand on. I let them out in the morning, and the tins are still in the run, and they'll hop in them and then look at me like "hey lady where is the cold stuff?" ha ha! I have two more tins freezing for them.
