Puttin' Up Wood

Yesterday Hubby and I split wood, while two of the girls hauled and stacked.  This time I think I came inside with saw dust in my ears, in my hair and up my nose.  I think I smelled wood all night long, ha ha!

Alias wanted in the picture too.  You can see we are slowly, but surely, getting the monstrosity of a mess cut into nice size pieces of firewood.

Hubby ran to town to sit with his sister and visit, and took one of the girls along too.  I stayed back to finish up some work.

We are waiting on the chains to be sharpened, but we need to get busy cutting some wood too!
Sandra, after yesterday's cutting, we now have to sharpen the chain on ours and the one we borrowed too.

Was that a tree that fell on your property or one you "felled"? What kind of wood do you burn? Last year the "new" chimney sweep told me my insert was not installed correctly, he couldn't fix it and he didn't sweep the chimney and still charged me so I haven't been using it much but it sure helped with my heating bill when I did. I hope you're not sore this morning. It always seemed to use muscles I hadn't. LOL!

Hee-hee, I've come in from working up wood with sawdust in places where you don't want to have sawdust! Luckily, both hubby and I enjoy the whole wood working process. We're thinking we may have enough wood put up right now to last two years . . . if this winter isn't too awfully cold! Time will tell but it's wise to be that far ahead (we don't always make it) because I think what if one of us was incapacitated and couldn't do wood working the next year? Sure hope it never happens but I feel so much better hedging when it comes to our warmth and comfort!
Sam I am, it was wood given to us. We still have 3 trees, two of which need cut down, and one fell down.
Mama Pea,
You made me realize that we should cut enough to be a few seasons ahead. That is a great idea. I guess with Hubby's work schedule, we cut and split when we could. We do need more time to stock it up too.

Continuing in prayer for your SIL.

Cutting and stacking wood brings back memories for me too. Our Dad always said cutting wood was the job that warmed twice. It did and still does too. LOL

God bless.

Apples and Tomatoes Oh My!

The early morning weather here has been downright chilly.  One morning it was 42 degrees.  Flower beds have been weeded.  The herb garden is next in line, but I do need to figure out what to do with all the rosemary plants I planted in the actual vegetable garden.  I have not mastered keeping them alive all winter indoors.  They will not survive the winter if left outside. Did any of my blog writing followers locate a better "blog" platform online?  Just curious if anyone is moving from blogger.

Under the Weather ~ What's Growing?

I have not been around in blogland much, due to being under the weather after I pushed myself way to far one day.  I have to remember we cannot do it all in one day.  Thank goodness for teas and tinctures, and healing foods (and rest).  We are feeling better. As for our blogs being used for advertising on many websites, and so forth (I can't see any other reason for the source of views: howstuffworks, dominospizza, mayoclinic {not the blog readers interested in my actual blog}) the numbers continue to climb.  I have not found a way to "opt" out either.  If any of you find a new way to avoid this, blog elsewhere, find a new platform etc, please be sure to share.   If your blog has ads, you are are not going to complain, ha ha!  You are probably making a bucko-bucks with all these visitors to your blog. Okay, back to the update post . . .

16 Weeks Until Christmas

It's not hard to believe that we are traveling closer to the winter holidays.  I'm trying to focus on enjoying every single day until then, but I am fitting in a few snippets of holiday preparing.  Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year.  It's hard to believe it's the last day of August. I have not yet gotten rid of the links to all the advertisers using my blog posts, but again, still working on it. However, my profile has gone from my blog, and while I am in settings, it is not able to add as a "gadget" to the blog.  Weird things are happening.   Google had a data breach recently as well, so gmail users were advised to change passwords.  Not sure what else is going on, but just in case you are wondering why my "profile" is not on my blog any longer.   Okay, back to the Christmas countdown post . . .
