Good Literature

Ha ha ha ha ha ha!  I'm not laughing at John Steinbeck, but at the oh, so appropriate title to describe this winter here.

I made a trip to the library yesterday, and stocked up on some good literature to read.  I decided to delve into some great authors, and hope to improve my writing.  Not to mention I may have lots of time if we do get snowed in this weekend.

I had to hand split whatever wood we had last night.  It was getting dark and the temperatures were about 10°F or so. I split wood until we couldn't find anymore suitable for splitting. Hubby was that sick, and could not help.  Not to mention we did not have the wood splitter (someone else was borrowing it).  Son was at work, so it was us girls.  We now have enough for today and possibly tonight.  Let's just say I slept really good last night.

Today I am grateful for:
~getting to sleep in (oh so nice!)
~hot coffee already brewed when I did get up
~the sun shining
~for leftovers tonight
~being able to hear out of my right ear
~for essential oils
~a working washing machine
~for freelance writing opportunities
~for raw honey
~hot herbal teas

I'm glad your ear cleared up! One of the blogs I follow, the girl lives in Chicago, and she is REALLY discontented with this winter! LOL!!

I do love your "gratitude" list. When we stop to really think, we all can come up with many, many things for which to be thankful. Our glorious sunshine this morning is one for me. (Even though the temp is -18°.)

When we first moved up here, I spent many winter mornings outside cutting enough wood for that day. I even had a small chainsaw that was easy for me to handle.

Ugh, so sorry to hear your hubby has really been laid low. That's the pits. It's remarkable how difficult and ugly-bugly life seems when you're sick.

As for Napoleon Hill . . . a big, fat RASSSTHPPBERRIES!!

Have a good one, dear Kristina, and always keep your wonderfully up-beat outlook.

Ha!! I was just going to write up a post on how much I LOVE my tea! Remembering to be grateful is something I need to, well, REMEMBER to do, so thanks for the reminder.

Sincere prayers for complete healing in your family, especially your hubby. It's never fun being sick, but being sick in the wintertime is surely the pits.

God bless.

Apples and Tomatoes Oh My!

The early morning weather here has been downright chilly.  One morning it was 42 degrees.  Flower beds have been weeded.  The herb garden is next in line, but I do need to figure out what to do with all the rosemary plants I planted in the actual vegetable garden.  I have not mastered keeping them alive all winter indoors.  They will not survive the winter if left outside. Did any of my blog writing followers locate a better "blog" platform online?  Just curious if anyone is moving from blogger.

Under the Weather ~ What's Growing?

I have not been around in blogland much, due to being under the weather after I pushed myself way to far one day.  I have to remember we cannot do it all in one day.  Thank goodness for teas and tinctures, and healing foods (and rest).  We are feeling better. As for our blogs being used for advertising on many websites, and so forth (I can't see any other reason for the source of views: howstuffworks, dominospizza, mayoclinic {not the blog readers interested in my actual blog}) the numbers continue to climb.  I have not found a way to "opt" out either.  If any of you find a new way to avoid this, blog elsewhere, find a new platform etc, please be sure to share.   If your blog has ads, you are are not going to complain, ha ha!  You are probably making a bucko-bucks with all these visitors to your blog. Okay, back to the update post . . .

16 Weeks Until Christmas

It's not hard to believe that we are traveling closer to the winter holidays.  I'm trying to focus on enjoying every single day until then, but I am fitting in a few snippets of holiday preparing.  Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year.  It's hard to believe it's the last day of August. I have not yet gotten rid of the links to all the advertisers using my blog posts, but again, still working on it. However, my profile has gone from my blog, and while I am in settings, it is not able to add as a "gadget" to the blog.  Weird things are happening.   Google had a data breach recently as well, so gmail users were advised to change passwords.  Not sure what else is going on, but just in case you are wondering why my "profile" is not on my blog any longer.   Okay, back to the Christmas countdown post . . .
