Herbal Journey ~ Herbal Bath Tea

It's time to expand my knowledge and use of herbs once again.  This time, taking herbs to the bathtub.  And one kiddo got to try out our first herbal bath tea.

When one of the kids had the flu, or flu-like virus, she wanted to take a bath.  I've since then put together a "Bath Bag" for colds and flu, and we grow every ingredient in my herb garden.

Bath Bag for Colds and Flu
1 cup dried sage
1 cup dried thyme
1 cup dried lemon balm

Mix herbs together and use ½ to 1 cup in a muslin bag per bath.  Let steep in the tub.  Rub onto the body for additional benefits.

Note:  You can sew your own reusable muslin bath bags, or simply cut a piece and tie it up with cotton string.  I much prefer to tie up a round of muslin.  The bath bags never stay shut completely and herbs start to float around in the tub.

Remember the organic orange peel I saved and dried?  Well I used it for another bath tea.

I tried the stimulating bath tea recipe found in this book:

Organic Body Care Recipes, by Stephanie Tourles

I had every ingredient except the lemon rind.  The author has many herbal recipes in this book, if anyone is interested in this sort of thing.

Hey, if you're feeling wonky and the bath bag for colds and flu makes you feel better, who cares if you've got a little thyme stuck to the bottom of your foot! ;o}
I think this is awesome as I have just started using oils with this same concept in mind! I think we can learn a lot from plants! Happy week to you!! Nicole xo
Mama Pea, you made me laugh once again, ha ha!
Nicole, the bath tea I made for myself, used dried herbs as well as essential oils. Very refreshing.

I found that dried peppermint tea is great for sore throats and indigestion. Thanks for giving me idea to try it in a hot bath next time! It's got to be good for you in the tub too! I will try mixing it with some dired lemon balm. Great idea!
It sounds refreshing!
...my problem isn't getting the herbs to stay put.
It's getting the door to stay shut!
You'd think if the kids were all grown a few minutes to soak in the tub ALONE... would come easy. ;/ but no...
Lisa, the bath teas are wonderful. My 15 year-old was begging me to fix up another tea bag for her last night. It really helps you feel better.
Patricia, we have only one tub, and it often gets time limits.
Now this sounds so relaxing! Never thought of using teas in the bath.
GratefulPrayer, I'm finding many recipes in books I am borrowing from the library.

Apples and Tomatoes Oh My!

The early morning weather here has been downright chilly.  One morning it was 42 degrees.  Flower beds have been weeded.  The herb garden is next in line, but I do need to figure out what to do with all the rosemary plants I planted in the actual vegetable garden.  I have not mastered keeping them alive all winter indoors.  They will not survive the winter if left outside. Did any of my blog writing followers locate a better "blog" platform online?  Just curious if anyone is moving from blogger.

Under the Weather ~ What's Growing?

I have not been around in blogland much, due to being under the weather after I pushed myself way to far one day.  I have to remember we cannot do it all in one day.  Thank goodness for teas and tinctures, and healing foods (and rest).  We are feeling better. As for our blogs being used for advertising on many websites, and so forth (I can't see any other reason for the source of views: howstuffworks, dominospizza, mayoclinic {not the blog readers interested in my actual blog}) the numbers continue to climb.  I have not found a way to "opt" out either.  If any of you find a new way to avoid this, blog elsewhere, find a new platform etc, please be sure to share.   If your blog has ads, you are are not going to complain, ha ha!  You are probably making a bucko-bucks with all these visitors to your blog. Okay, back to the update post . . .

16 Weeks Until Christmas

It's not hard to believe that we are traveling closer to the winter holidays.  I'm trying to focus on enjoying every single day until then, but I am fitting in a few snippets of holiday preparing.  Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year.  It's hard to believe it's the last day of August. I have not yet gotten rid of the links to all the advertisers using my blog posts, but again, still working on it. However, my profile has gone from my blog, and while I am in settings, it is not able to add as a "gadget" to the blog.  Weird things are happening.   Google had a data breach recently as well, so gmail users were advised to change passwords.  Not sure what else is going on, but just in case you are wondering why my "profile" is not on my blog any longer.   Okay, back to the Christmas countdown post . . .
