The Weekend Update

Friday.

Bedding washed.  Deep cleaning projects completed.  One kitchen window, woodwork washed, plant pots wiped down, coffee bean grinder taken apart and scrubbed until the glass was shining.  Washed the dishes, dried and put them away, sanitized the counters with homemade (tea tree oil) wipes, and washed down the stove top.

Yarn stash put back in the closet.  All of it.

Then I got some back out.

I have a problem.

I put it back.

I took a folding lawn chair to the back porch after the rain stopped, and took in deep breaths, and did nothing in that chair.  Just enjoyed the outdoor sounds for a while.  It felt great to just do nothing and not feel guilty.  The sun popped out for split seconds, but even that was welcomed.

Soup beans were cooking in the crock pot....then Hubby called.  We were going to join his family for dinner and drinks.  Okay.  So, soup beans for Sunday.  We went.   We drove out to where the benefit would be held and dropped off our auction donations.  But.... Hubby wanted to hang around there for a while.  I was getting tired.  We had to pick up a kiddo at a basketball game and we were really stinkin' tired.  Oh, so tired.

Saturday.

Slept in. I kid you not.  Hubby and I both needed it. We both have a sinus issue going on.  I, with a sinus headache and pressure (ginger tea works great for this), and he with sinus congestion.  I downed a Tbsp of Four Thieves vinegar before doing anything.  I told him we need to slow down more.

Late breakfast made by Hubby.  Yum.

Then we drove up to the "Big City" for the benefit.  There was not only the silent auction, but a spaghetti dinner, bake sale, card games, raffles of all sorts, and even live music.  I took a look around and really didn't find much I wanted to bid on that I needed. There were plenty of people to bid on everything.  What a long, long, day.  I'll admit, the best planned out benefit, and it was hard for some to get a parking spot.  They had raffles the entire night, and I literally lost track of what tickets were for what. I don't know what my donations gave them, but I am sure they raised enough for the family.

Sunday.

Slept in again.  It felt great.

Hubby found a garage to take my car too (finally), and the brakes will hopefully be repaired.  We were yet invited to another gathering, and I told Hubby no.  I need a break, and woke up with a sinus headache (again).

We are taking the rest of the day off.

What's next on the agenda?  The craft show I have been him-hawing about.

I plan to binge watch our newest and most favorite series on Amazon Prime, and work on a crocheted Harry Potter "Gryffindor" scarf.

What's the series we love?  It's called "Wild Roses" and it's about a woman and her daughters running a ranch, in which another family is trying to steal from them by doing horrible, dirty, awful rotten things to them.  Like trying to make them declare bankruptcy, etc.  The woman and her daughter's land is sitting on oil, and they didn't know it.  They soon fight over continuing as a cattle ranch or drilling.

I've opened my Etsy, but not opened. it.  It's there, but awaiting me to put items in it.  I'm still on the fence about spending money to list them, not knowing if they'll sell or not. I don't know why this is bothering me, other than the stack of medical bills we still have (spending money we don't have).  I have to review the tax info first, and see if I can obtain forms for it.

In the meantime, I'll continue to stock the pile of hand created items, and care for the homestead  (and work on any unfinished projects).  I hope I have something a bit more interesting to share next time.  Thanks for visiting today.

This sounds like my week. A little of this, not enough of that. I’ve joked to my husband that I need a wife. Today, i’m not really joking. Maybe what I need is more wine and less whine!
Have a fabulous week!

Feels good to sleep in! :) You definitely deserve to sit around doing nothing once in a while! Just to at least re-energize your mind and body! We've been binge-watching the old Saturday Night Live's from the 70's and your title had me laughing because that's what they call their "news" segment. :)

The benefit sounded wonderful with lots of different aspects as well as the auction, hopefully a very large amount was raised. Hope both you and your hubby feel better soon.
Rain, I got a good amount of rest on Sunday.

Apples and Tomatoes Oh My!

The early morning weather here has been downright chilly.  One morning it was 42 degrees.  Flower beds have been weeded.  The herb garden is next in line, but I do need to figure out what to do with all the rosemary plants I planted in the actual vegetable garden.  I have not mastered keeping them alive all winter indoors.  They will not survive the winter if left outside. Did any of my blog writing followers locate a better "blog" platform online?  Just curious if anyone is moving from blogger.

Under the Weather ~ What's Growing?

I have not been around in blogland much, due to being under the weather after I pushed myself way to far one day.  I have to remember we cannot do it all in one day.  Thank goodness for teas and tinctures, and healing foods (and rest).  We are feeling better. As for our blogs being used for advertising on many websites, and so forth (I can't see any other reason for the source of views: howstuffworks, dominospizza, mayoclinic {not the blog readers interested in my actual blog}) the numbers continue to climb.  I have not found a way to "opt" out either.  If any of you find a new way to avoid this, blog elsewhere, find a new platform etc, please be sure to share.   If your blog has ads, you are are not going to complain, ha ha!  You are probably making a bucko-bucks with all these visitors to your blog. Okay, back to the update post . . .

16 Weeks Until Christmas

It's not hard to believe that we are traveling closer to the winter holidays.  I'm trying to focus on enjoying every single day until then, but I am fitting in a few snippets of holiday preparing.  Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year.  It's hard to believe it's the last day of August. I have not yet gotten rid of the links to all the advertisers using my blog posts, but again, still working on it. However, my profile has gone from my blog, and while I am in settings, it is not able to add as a "gadget" to the blog.  Weird things are happening.   Google had a data breach recently as well, so gmail users were advised to change passwords.  Not sure what else is going on, but just in case you are wondering why my "profile" is not on my blog any longer.   Okay, back to the Christmas countdown post . . .
