Houseplant Experiment ~ Random Tidbits

My re-potted succulent plants had a few bits of plants break off.

We have placed them in starter cups in hopes to bring them to grow new plants.

We'll let you know if they grow this way.  According to the internet sources, I think we are doing it right.  The girls have given each one a name.

My Hubby and I have been under the weather, him much more so than I.  I switched things up a bit and made an elderberry tea with turmeric and cinnamon.  We sipped that all day Sunday.  He rested in bed, I took to the porch and stole several hours of fresh air and the outdoors.  It was a bit windy, but the front porch was pretty nice.

I feel much better today, but Hubby went to work feeling a big off.  I do feel the teas (and rest) have helped

The weekend did not pass without another visit from the nuisance business.  Either it's him doing it or a hired cronie.  This time it was a person on a 4-wheeler who went around the property the wee hours Saturday morning.

Today it's a bit colder and still windy.

Glad to hear you are feeling better. And I wish hubs all the best as well. I have started plants from the leaves like this before but I always placed the broken end in the soil. Or what is even quicker is to take a container and stretch clingwrap over the top and with an ice pick make holes and put the leaves thru the holes and into the water. You must keep the water level up so the leaves are alway touching. It takes about 1-2 months sometimes for them to grow. But I have some right now that I just potted up. Good luck!
Thanks Kim, my 16 year-old is taking care of the new starts. I'll give her the tips.

I love that your daughters have given each little sprig a name. I bet that will help in the propagation. I'm sorry you and your hubby have been feeling ill and hope your good remedies will to their jobs. As to your evil neighbor - have you thought of putting up a trail camera to get some photographic evidence of the harassment?

God to hear you're feeling better but too bad your hubby had to go to work feeling so punk. We're back in the deep freeze today (8° and falling) and supposedly won't see any warm weather until this coming weekend. But we didn't get the 3" or so of snow forecast for over night so that's good. A lot of our snow melted on last Saturday although looking out onto the garden and raised beds, it's still a solid landscape of white, white, white.
Susan, Hubby and I have some ideas pertaining to the neighbor. It does help when two or more of us view them doing this too.
Mama Pea, Hubby was still feeling badly yesterday, but went to work again today. I'm filling him up with good soup and hot tea. I think we are to get some snow today, but I honestly can't remember. My evening hen duty is right when the news comes on. I'll be checking the weather this morning.

I've started a few aloe and hens-n-chicks, and we always started by sticking the cut end in the dirt. Cute your kids have named some. Hope they all make it.
I hope you all get to feeling better. As for the nuisance, we have one that sits outside my bedroom window with his car radio blaring all hours of the day and night. I just turn my tv up louder. I've spoken to him a time or two. I don't think he means to be an irritation. I think he's just self-centered and doesn't think of others. I wonder how his toddlers sleep. Poor kids.
God bless.

RB, gosh, toddlers and noise? I wonder how they sleep too.

Apples and Tomatoes Oh My!

The early morning weather here has been downright chilly.  One morning it was 42 degrees.  Flower beds have been weeded.  The herb garden is next in line, but I do need to figure out what to do with all the rosemary plants I planted in the actual vegetable garden.  I have not mastered keeping them alive all winter indoors.  They will not survive the winter if left outside. Did any of my blog writing followers locate a better "blog" platform online?  Just curious if anyone is moving from blogger.

Under the Weather ~ What's Growing?

I have not been around in blogland much, due to being under the weather after I pushed myself way to far one day.  I have to remember we cannot do it all in one day.  Thank goodness for teas and tinctures, and healing foods (and rest).  We are feeling better. As for our blogs being used for advertising on many websites, and so forth (I can't see any other reason for the source of views: howstuffworks, dominospizza, mayoclinic {not the blog readers interested in my actual blog}) the numbers continue to climb.  I have not found a way to "opt" out either.  If any of you find a new way to avoid this, blog elsewhere, find a new platform etc, please be sure to share.   If your blog has ads, you are are not going to complain, ha ha!  You are probably making a bucko-bucks with all these visitors to your blog. Okay, back to the update post . . .

16 Weeks Until Christmas

It's not hard to believe that we are traveling closer to the winter holidays.  I'm trying to focus on enjoying every single day until then, but I am fitting in a few snippets of holiday preparing.  Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year.  It's hard to believe it's the last day of August. I have not yet gotten rid of the links to all the advertisers using my blog posts, but again, still working on it. However, my profile has gone from my blog, and while I am in settings, it is not able to add as a "gadget" to the blog.  Weird things are happening.   Google had a data breach recently as well, so gmail users were advised to change passwords.  Not sure what else is going on, but just in case you are wondering why my "profile" is not on my blog any longer.   Okay, back to the Christmas countdown post . . .
