Mini Retreat ~ Back to Reality World

Hubby surprised me and whisked me away over the weekend.  Even though he was feeling under the weather prior to the weekend, he took us away for that much needed (balance) time we need alone by ourselves.

I gave up my computer over the weekend, and wrote with pen and paper.  Which was a challenge, considering I wrote in the care with Hubby driving.  I hope I can read my hand writing today.  It will be a  challenge in itself to get caught back up.

Upon returning, we plunged directly into reality world.  No time to sip wine on the porch, or lounge around and read books either.  We dove right back in whether we wanted to or not.

Hubby had to replace a wheel bearing in his truck, and while that was going on, I found out that Oldest Daughter's car would not start.

Our 19 year-old daughter's car is not running (again) now.  I thought Hubby replaced the fuel pump, but I found out he only cleaned lines, and the fuel pump was running these last few weeks.  Now, her car won't start, so we have an unplanned trip to trailer the car back home soon, and work on her car.

Youngest is now bouncing back and forth with feeling ill.  She's home today, so I'll be mixing up some homemade ginger-ale for her.

Looks like the weather may warm up, so there is hope for tackling that mess of a tree in my yard.  Time will tell.

Glad you and your hubby had a chance to get away for a short time. It's remarkable you managed it with all you had to do when you got back! Vehicles can be such a problem. Even if they're not broken down, the regular maintenance and upkeep on them is time-consuming. Papa Pea and our daughter spent a bit of time yesterday working on her truck getting it set for winter and snow plowing.

Not sure about your area, but we continue to have unseasonably warm temps (and no snow, of course) here which has actually been kinda nice in that it enables us to keep working on all those outside chores. One of these days it will all come to a screeching halt when the cold and snow does hit.

Hope your daughter can shake whatever illness is giving her problems.

There are days when I think it would be wonderful to go back to horses and buggies. Sounds like your respite came right in time.
Susan, it come at the right time. Next outing will be with the kids. We try to rotate to keep the balance going.
Mama Pea, Hubby is up in the big-big city looking at Oldest Daughter's car. I may be her fuel pump too, but he won't know until tonight. It's been very warm during the days here, but cool at night. We only have 1 hour after he gets home to work on the outside stuff. Like the standing trees. At least we have limbs down and can just go out and cut (when the cars are fixed).

Apples and Tomatoes Oh My!

The early morning weather here has been downright chilly.  One morning it was 42 degrees.  Flower beds have been weeded.  The herb garden is next in line, but I do need to figure out what to do with all the rosemary plants I planted in the actual vegetable garden.  I have not mastered keeping them alive all winter indoors.  They will not survive the winter if left outside. Did any of my blog writing followers locate a better "blog" platform online?  Just curious if anyone is moving from blogger.

Under the Weather ~ What's Growing?

I have not been around in blogland much, due to being under the weather after I pushed myself way to far one day.  I have to remember we cannot do it all in one day.  Thank goodness for teas and tinctures, and healing foods (and rest).  We are feeling better. As for our blogs being used for advertising on many websites, and so forth (I can't see any other reason for the source of views: howstuffworks, dominospizza, mayoclinic {not the blog readers interested in my actual blog}) the numbers continue to climb.  I have not found a way to "opt" out either.  If any of you find a new way to avoid this, blog elsewhere, find a new platform etc, please be sure to share.   If your blog has ads, you are are not going to complain, ha ha!  You are probably making a bucko-bucks with all these visitors to your blog. Okay, back to the update post . . .

16 Weeks Until Christmas

It's not hard to believe that we are traveling closer to the winter holidays.  I'm trying to focus on enjoying every single day until then, but I am fitting in a few snippets of holiday preparing.  Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year.  It's hard to believe it's the last day of August. I have not yet gotten rid of the links to all the advertisers using my blog posts, but again, still working on it. However, my profile has gone from my blog, and while I am in settings, it is not able to add as a "gadget" to the blog.  Weird things are happening.   Google had a data breach recently as well, so gmail users were advised to change passwords.  Not sure what else is going on, but just in case you are wondering why my "profile" is not on my blog any longer.   Okay, back to the Christmas countdown post . . .
