Random Tidbits

What's on the breakfast plate lately?  I should have just dumped the cowboy candy right on the dandelion scramble.
Lots of vitamin C and other goodness, and loads of hot peppers to free up my nasal passages. Green peppers for more vitamin C, and dandelions for Vitamin A (immune system help), C, the B's, and a lot more. I also added garlic and hot peppers to the scramble.

Instead of freezing rain on Friday, we got snow.

And lots of it.
It was perfect for making a snowman too. I wanted to, but I knew I would be pushing my recovery, so I didn't (and regret it).  Vet-Tech daughter and her co-worker built one at the kennel, ha ha!  This morning, it's already starting to melt.

Our Vet-Tech Daughter paid off her car loan.  All of it.  Now she can get insurance in her own name and guess what?  Our cost will drop almost in half.  She is one more step to independence and the reality of adulthood.

(loaded with vitamin C)

My meal plan this week had to be done, regardless of my head cold.  It was just done a bit backwards.   I could not let my organic brussels sprouts go bad, nor the thawed homemade condensed mushroom soup.  So....

I made tuna and noodle casserole, mashed potatoes (using homemade yogurt), and a new brussels sprouts casserole with a shallot and blue cheese sauce, with a corn bread topping.  We all tasted it.  We all agreed, for the work involved there wasn't a "wow" moment when tasting.  We much prefer the roasted brussels sprouts with onion and garlic (less work, less calories).  Other than Hubby.  He loved the brussels sprouts casserole.

Leftover rolls to go with dinner.  These were still good a day later.

I got yelled at too.  I wasn't supposed to be working so hard in the kitchen.  Or at all.  I took it easy, and the girls helped prepare the dinner.  I think they enjoyed it.

The dog gate is still down.  However, I had to block them from the upstairs.  I heard a book drop off of something (getting good sounds lately), and went up to investigate.  Sure enough Youngest had a book by her bed and it was on the floor.  I saved it, but noticed they tore apart an entire box of kleenex.  Zuri, in the past, ate an entire hard cover book cover recently.  Just another day of in the life with dogs.

Our daughter suffers from sinus infections now and then and she showed me something new she got from or organic co-op . . . it made me think of you. It's put out by the Neti Pot people, looks like a tube of Chap Stick, is like a nasal spray but a little different. You insert it in a nostril and breathe in. She says it really helps clear her head and unclog the sinuses. Sorry I can't remember the exact name but it starts with Neti-something.

Just looking at the Cowboy Candy gives me heartburn lol...I wish I had a stronger stomach, it looks so tasty the way you presented it! And those mashed potatoes...wow, one of my weaknesses and I make mine with my homemade yogurt too! Yum! I love Brussels Sprouts, but I always get disappointed when I make anything other than a simple dish with them. Oh gosh Zuri...my dogs stop at hard cover books...but our cat Dana loves to nibble on Kleenex.

The brussel sprouts (could be my favorite vegetable) casserole sounded great with the blue cheese...love that too! You make yummy stuff! Congrats to your daughter on the loan pay off!
Are the dogs teething or are they still pups? I have several cook books with chewed edges from puppies of the past! LOL!
Thanks Mama Pea. I'll have to look for it when I visit the health store next.
Rain, Zuri loves to chew stuff up.
Sam Am I, they are going to be 2 this fall. Thankfully. I sure hope they move onto the more relaxed stage of their puppy-hood.

How old are the dogs now? Seems they should be getting past the teething stage. Maybe the book-eating one is missing some vitamins or minerals, that he's eating paper. Kleenexes though, they're just a toy. LOL Had an older dog I never could break of playing with tissues, but it was the only thing she ever did wrong, so I excused her for it. Anyway, just something to think about.
I pray you're feeling better, day by day.
We're doing ok here in south central NC, even though it seems to be Spring one day and Winter the next. LOL
God bless.

RB, they will be 2 this coming fall. Yesterday, they were both fighting over the same toy. So funny.

Apples and Tomatoes Oh My!

The early morning weather here has been downright chilly.  One morning it was 42 degrees.  Flower beds have been weeded.  The herb garden is next in line, but I do need to figure out what to do with all the rosemary plants I planted in the actual vegetable garden.  I have not mastered keeping them alive all winter indoors.  They will not survive the winter if left outside. Did any of my blog writing followers locate a better "blog" platform online?  Just curious if anyone is moving from blogger.

Under the Weather ~ What's Growing?

I have not been around in blogland much, due to being under the weather after I pushed myself way to far one day.  I have to remember we cannot do it all in one day.  Thank goodness for teas and tinctures, and healing foods (and rest).  We are feeling better. As for our blogs being used for advertising on many websites, and so forth (I can't see any other reason for the source of views: howstuffworks, dominospizza, mayoclinic {not the blog readers interested in my actual blog}) the numbers continue to climb.  I have not found a way to "opt" out either.  If any of you find a new way to avoid this, blog elsewhere, find a new platform etc, please be sure to share.   If your blog has ads, you are are not going to complain, ha ha!  You are probably making a bucko-bucks with all these visitors to your blog. Okay, back to the update post . . .

16 Weeks Until Christmas

It's not hard to believe that we are traveling closer to the winter holidays.  I'm trying to focus on enjoying every single day until then, but I am fitting in a few snippets of holiday preparing.  Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year.  It's hard to believe it's the last day of August. I have not yet gotten rid of the links to all the advertisers using my blog posts, but again, still working on it. However, my profile has gone from my blog, and while I am in settings, it is not able to add as a "gadget" to the blog.  Weird things are happening.   Google had a data breach recently as well, so gmail users were advised to change passwords.  Not sure what else is going on, but just in case you are wondering why my "profile" is not on my blog any longer.   Okay, back to the Christmas countdown post . . .
