We've been having weird weather again. It's cold, cloudy, raining and a few spurts of hail. We do not need more rain, but my garlic loves it.
I was a bit flabbergasted yesterday morning, when I realized I had nothing to blog about (other than the weather). One daughter joked she would do something funny, but sadly got on the school bus and left.
There I was, staring into cyberspace, sucking down strong coffee, attempting to will myself into a long walk on the treadmill, when it hit me - bagels.
I have had a draft on my blog for over a year. I have wanted to make them and never had the time or energy, so Thursday was the day. It was raining (of course) and my day was mostly indoor work with slip sloshing around outdoors with the pups.
Perfect solution to a gray day. I had planned leftovers for dinner, had most of my regular chores done, so off to the kitchen I went.
I could not, for the life of me, find the recipe I saved in my bookmarks. I ended up trying the "New York" recipe I found by googling homemade bagels. I want to try the King Arthur recipes too, but decided on this one first.

I used my dehydrator for the rising of the dough again. I love this trick when the house is a bit chilly yet.
Before boiling and baking.
Baked.
Enjoyed.
My family is spoiled. These would be great for breakfast sandwiches too.

Yesterday was a baking day though. I made plain white bread and almost got an apple cake in the oven. (Just ran out of time.)
Yes, your family is spoiled by all the wonderful food you provide for them. I was kind of tickled a week or so ago when we had company for dinner and the guy told my husband what a lucky, lucky person he was because of the food he was regularly served. (He won points from me, that's for sure!)
I sometimes get that way blogging too. My blog is private, one one other reader, but if I sit staring at the "new post" button too long, then I just skip the post for the day. If I'm not interested in what I'm writing, I know my friend won't be either!
The weather here is weird too. The sun is shining beautifully, but the wind is gusting probably between 25-35 mph, and it's COLD. The cats want to go out (we have an enclosed rabbit hutch for them on the porch). I take them out. Ten minutes later I have to bring them in cause it's just too darn cold. They don't seem to understand, of course, cause again, the sun is shining. Tonight is suppose to be in the high 20's. I sure hope tomorrow will be warmer for them.
Prayers everyone has a safe happy weekend.
God bless.
