Happy Homemaker Monday

Although posting late today (due to work load today), I'm joining Happy Homemaker Monday.
I have some teenage kids and young adults that think they are too busy to walk a few more steps to properly take care of dirty dishes, towels, and just about everything else. Today I have extra work.

Breakfast time, what is on the plate this morning...
~ two farm eggs and organic toast.  Oh, and coffee.  I wanted dandelion greens/potato/pepper hash, but didn't have the extra time. Maybe tomorrow.

On today's to-do list. . .in no particular order. . .
-tend to chickens and goats
-feed pups/walk
-laundry out on the line
-wash all the dishes one kid left me (not happy about that)
-put steel cut oats in the crock pot
-sweep floors
-put chicken in roaster
-take garbage out
-take recycling out
-clean entire kitchen, counters, tables (another leftover mess from the kids)
-feed barn cats
-load and run dishwasher (another leftover kid chore)
-scrub all animal watering units
-put snow boots in storage
-beautify herb garden as much as I can today
-make homemade croutons
-put up rain barrels

....and then some....

Currently reading. . .
 - ha!  nothing this week except the local paper and my fellow bloggers blog posts.

On the TV today. . .
 not much, been busy

The weather outside today is. . .
  Gorgeous!

On the menu this week. . .
 - roasted self-raised chicken
 - cod
 - polenta
 - beet and barley risotto
 - sides are zucchini dish cooked with wine, broccoli, brussel sprouts, sweet potatoes, asparagus, and tomatoes

Just trying to figure out what with what and when.  Oh, and baked mac n' cheese.

If I have a few minutes to myself I will. . .
~ work on a crochet baby blanket (three relatives expecting girls this fall)

New recipe I tried, or want to. . .

Dandelion Bread.  I made it yesterday.  Delicious!!! You can see the blog post here.

In the garden. . .

 - herb garden is getting spiffed up and cleaned out, one section of tulips that the moles didn't get, have bloomed, and my asparagus is coming up again after that last snow we got.

Favorite photo from the camera. . .

Praying for. . .
Our own family, extended family and friends with special requests.

Bible verse, devotional that is resonating with me at the moment. . .

 Proverbs 12:11
11 Those who work their land will have abundant food, but those who chase fantasies have no sense.

That is quite a list! I see that there are quite a few "kids didn't dos" on that list. Sigh. I have not cooked my steel cut oats in a crock pot, but that is a great idea. I do the bring to a boil for 3 minutes, put in pint mason jars, screw on lid and leave method. Your sunshine and tulips look so wonderful.

Susan, I cook them with organic raisins and diced apples, cinnamon and walnuts. The family loves it anytime. Thanks for sharing the way you make it. I have never done that. Yeah, I'm sitting here making risotto and wondering if my list will get done.

I am glad my house work is minimal, with it only being e most of the time :-)

Don't let those kiddos and young adults shirk their duties. Be big, bad and mean if you have to. They don't do their part in helping around the house and alleviating your huge work load? Well, then Mom just might be too busy to prepare good, nutritious meals. And the table won't be fit to eat on because of all the piled up dirty dishes. Clothes won't get picked up and laundered either. Yes, I admit to being a big, bad and mean mom when I had to. ;o}

Mama Pea, Ha! I got mean. I think they got the point. I see clean tables and counters this morning.

Dawn, I have 6 here, with 4 being the kids. They can get lazy quite often.
