All things are possible.....

Hubby and I went to one last Christmas family gathering.  We ended up going by ourselves, but brought home leftovers.  The kids gobbled them up last night.

Although I was tempted to crochet, and had another unfinished project in my hands (I found several as I was cleaning a few days ago), I put it away.

I pampered myself with a hot wax hand treatment.  This machine makes the wax very hot, and I sometimes forget.  You dip your hands, cover them with plastic bags, then wrap with a towel for 15-20 minutes.  Then you peel off the wax.  Generally one treatment helps me for a while, but I will be doing this again this week.

Now, I can finally take the time to research more herbal tea mixtures for bone health, calcium, and other ones.  It's time to re-order a few library books.

Speaking of books. . .

If you have the 2015 Farmer's Almanac, there is an elderberry elixir recipe in it, on page 28.  It's a basic one, but I wanted to share.

Five Minutes for Me:  reading the latest issue of Country Woman Magazine.  They have an article in it, on a ginger farm in Hawaii.   They also highlighted many women.  One woman caught my attention, and is a homesteader of 6 acres (sound familiar?), who manages work horses, raises poultry, dairy goats, sheep, rabbits, and pigs.  What caught my eye, is she does all of this, and has published five books.  I'm sharing her website:  barnheart.com.  If she can do all that and still write, than so can I.  Although I admit, writing about my lifestyle would be a cinch compared to writing fiction, I'll work harder at it now.  All things are possible.

....and speaking of all things possible....I'm on the hunt for extra work (possibly freelance), to help pay the remaining vet bill and raise cash to get the big barn torn down.  I did not put the fundraiser widget (for Sadie's surgery) up on here, as it directly shows my son's full name and town.  Thank you all for helping support us.  If you are interested, you can always email me for the link.   I did not put up a "donate" paypal button, due to the fact spammers may take advantage of it. As for the barn, it appears it may need to come down sooner than we planned.  More on that later....

I've followed Jenna for years off and on. She seems to have a huge amount of community support, which is probably critical to her success. She's very scrappy! I read her first book about living in Northern Idaho, good writer...

That hot oil treatment looks painful!
I've been wanting to try making elderberry syrup for ages but I can't get my hands on any dried berries - even tried ordering them from the US but the two companies I contacted won't deliver to europe!

You might try Magnesium Oil for your hands. It is really good for all kinds of things. Love your blog!

Nancy, I found her blog very real and encouraging.

Emma, I noticed that companies are not shipping elderberries out of the state, which I find odd too.

Hill House, thank you for visiting. I may have to try that oil next. Thanks.
