Drying Lemongrass ~ Herbal Updates ~ So You Know

Lemongrass is new to my herb garden this year.  I planted it in a pot, due to space, and because I did not want it to spread too quickly, like my lemon balm did.

It was time to cut some leaves, and dry them for tea making.  I love to add this to our summer iced teas with spearmint too.

My comfrey, mullein, peppermint and calendula looks great too, but my newly planted spearmint seeds are not sprouting just yet. 

And just so you know.....housework is not slacking this week.  I had a long to-do list yesterday, and weeding the garden was left off of it on purpose.

The list?

pick peas
dead-head flowers and water
replant some zinnia seeds
laundry on the line, two loads
feed and water dogs
open chicken run, check water
water goats
spray peppermint spray on roses (again)
spray bug spray on greens (again)
scrub a toilet
sweep floors
pick up a kiddo at a sleepover
take another kiddo to a dental cleaning
drop off flyers at the feed store
take trash out
take returns to the library
pick up graduation photos
touch up the paint on one kitchen drawer
re-water goats and chickens and dogs
take down dry herbs, cut more herbs
finish weeding the front flower bed
start weeding the herb garden (looking terrible)
laundry back off the line and folded
can jam
write
 

The list was never finished of course, nor did I write down all of it here.  And Hubby pulled in the driveway about 5:30pm with an enormous load of mulch in his truck.   Needless to say, the laundry was taken down very late.

He said if he didn't pick it up then, it would never get done - storms expected all day today. 

We dealt with about half of the truck full, and will deal with the rest after today's rain/storms pass through.  Once the zinnias and gladiolus bloom, we'll have more color in there.  There are mums in there for fall color too.

Now, today, after I tackle more of the list I can sit on the porch and actually relax while looking at my beautifully weeded flower beds.

Here is a snippet of one end of the herb garden, ha ha!  If you look close enough, you can see the rosemary and the lemon balm.  That's next, after it rains.

On a different note, I have to admit, I miss being able to take Sadie outside when I take laundry out.  She knew the "L" word very well, and jumped at the chance to join me.  Sigh....missing her.  She'd run after a stick in the yard and run around and play with Jesse with it.

And speaking of "missing" I am still going through days where I miss my Aunt terribly.
