Garden Planning ~ Lunch Packings ~ Chicken Treat

Looked what arrived in the mail.  It's my current "read."  Thank you Leigh for telling me about this company.  I am having a fun time looking through it, and planning the garden this coming spring.   What is your favorite seed source?

I got the "Mom!" alert yesterday. School lunch packings were at a minimum.

I baked up some strawberry chocolate chip muffins.  Yum. Do you have a favorite fruit muffin?  I can't say this is our very favorite, but it's one of them.

I also made a pan of homemade smoked almonds.  However, the joke is on me.  School called last night and said they would be closed today.  Although it's -2°F outside this morning, if feels like -18°F.  It will be colder tomorrow yet.

I treated my ladies and "Stud Muffin" Sparta (aka chickens and rooster) to some warm, cooked oatmeal.  They chowed it down too.  If you are wondering how I go those three plates out to the barn in one trip, along with a watering unit, I took them out on a sled.  It's been a big help this winter (the sled).  I use it for firewood as well, and to get the feed to the barn.

Ooh! I’d love this muffin recipe! Since I’m stuck inside today, I might try making those almonds, too. I always make twice the quantity I need when making oatmeal - you’re right, the hens love it!
So nice to stop by and visit with you! Those muffins... yes, please! My husband is working from home today because of the snow and cold and he requested oatmeal for breakfast this morning. Liking your sled idea too.
All the best in the New Year!

My goodness that is cold. I am a great fan of a blueberry muffin.
Susan, I sort of tossed ingredients together and made up the recipe, and will be happy to share. I'll write it up and post soon. The almonds are so much tastier than plan ol' raw almonds too.
mamasmercantile, I also have a recipe for blueberry/strawberry muffins. Yum.

Often have oatmeal at lunch when it is colllld. Yes the multiple l's were for emphasis.
Kristina any chance of talking you out of your blueberry/strawberry muffin recipe?
Nancy, I think they were mad at me the other day when I didn't take oatmeal out, ha ha! They just looked at me like, "Hey lady, where's the goods?"
Sam I Am, the school told students they would not delay no matter how cold it got, but they closed. Not sure they can tell the students that either. I believe if the weather is a specific temp they have to close.
Goatldi, I will be sharing muffin recipes soon.

Apples and Tomatoes Oh My!

The early morning weather here has been downright chilly.  One morning it was 42 degrees.  Flower beds have been weeded.  The herb garden is next in line, but I do need to figure out what to do with all the rosemary plants I planted in the actual vegetable garden.  I have not mastered keeping them alive all winter indoors.  They will not survive the winter if left outside. Did any of my blog writing followers locate a better "blog" platform online?  Just curious if anyone is moving from blogger.

Under the Weather ~ What's Growing?

I have not been around in blogland much, due to being under the weather after I pushed myself way to far one day.  I have to remember we cannot do it all in one day.  Thank goodness for teas and tinctures, and healing foods (and rest).  We are feeling better. As for our blogs being used for advertising on many websites, and so forth (I can't see any other reason for the source of views: howstuffworks, dominospizza, mayoclinic {not the blog readers interested in my actual blog}) the numbers continue to climb.  I have not found a way to "opt" out either.  If any of you find a new way to avoid this, blog elsewhere, find a new platform etc, please be sure to share.   If your blog has ads, you are are not going to complain, ha ha!  You are probably making a bucko-bucks with all these visitors to your blog. Okay, back to the update post . . .

16 Weeks Until Christmas

It's not hard to believe that we are traveling closer to the winter holidays.  I'm trying to focus on enjoying every single day until then, but I am fitting in a few snippets of holiday preparing.  Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year.  It's hard to believe it's the last day of August. I have not yet gotten rid of the links to all the advertisers using my blog posts, but again, still working on it. However, my profile has gone from my blog, and while I am in settings, it is not able to add as a "gadget" to the blog.  Weird things are happening.   Google had a data breach recently as well, so gmail users were advised to change passwords.  Not sure what else is going on, but just in case you are wondering why my "profile" is not on my blog any longer.   Okay, back to the Christmas countdown post . . .
