If you think I crossed off my to-do list yesterday (Happy Homemaker Monday post), you are incorrect. And you are probably happy to see we all can't get everything done in a day, ha ha!
I got half of the carrots dug up. They are not all the best in size, but there are plenty. Some are fairly large, so we are happy regardless. I still have half the row to dig up. I'll be weighing these this morning. Most will go into the freezer, considering we do not have a basement, root cellar or other.
More popcorn was brought in, but

Wear it out,
Make it do,
Or go without."

Holiday Menu "try-its" ~ Winter Prep ~ Motorcycle Rides and More Garlic
It's been one year since Hubby's mild heart attack. We are so thankful he is doing well health-wise, and doesn't get sick as often either.
We took the Harley out on Saturday, and visited the flea market festival we visited the very day he had the heart attack. It was fun to get out to ride. We ditched it early due to the 90 degree sweltering heat and us in long pants and leather boots. We took a long ride to get lunch. We rode all day, visited a family birthday party and ended it at home to fry up some bacon.
I tried a new recipe for an overnight breakfast casserole. It used "croutons" vs. cubed bread. I had some (homemade) in the freezer that needed rotated out for new, so I tried it.
I used homemade sausage and organic bacon both. We typically make a sausage/egg souffle (also overnight) dish, but I wanted to try a new one with greens in it.
The results?

Here is what the big barn ruble looked like on 6-26-17:
And here is an updated photo, with a slight progress of "rubble-be-gone"

Holiday Menu Planning ~ Sweet Potato Pie
The "bug" to try new recipes, for the up coming holidays, has hit me again. I needed to rotate out some pie crust crumbles anyway.
Thursday: I had time to do something, and scrubbing the master bath toilet was not looking like the time filler for me. Although it does need done.
Dinner prep was already done (salmon patties) and homemade sausage was already mixed and in the fridge.
It was too hot to go outside to work. It was too hot and humid to sit on the porch with my feet up too.

Good News! ~ Finished!
Good News:
Doctor gave me the thumbs up. Spider bites should heal on their own. No skin graphs or specialty doctors. He was very impressed with my progress, and I even told him I did some dancing over the weekend (and no swelling). It will be a few more weeks for healing, buying a semi truck load of gauze and roll gauze, but it will heal. I will have a nasty scar, but I am very happy. I really like my new doctor too. Once again, nurses came to see the updated larger bite, ha ha! I'm like a hot topic there when I arrive. Trust me, if you saw a photo of what it looked like when I first went to the second doctor, you'd be "sweatin' bullets" too. He and I both were concerned.
Bad News:
The heat is drawing the spiders into the house and I have yet to spray inside. As they crawl in to escape the heat, however, the outside spraying should keep them from living too long if they do get all the way in. I had to swat at jumping spiders all yesterday afternoon.

Habanero-Apricot Jelly
Preserving continues....
I started the early morning (yesterday) by canning one batch of habanero-apricot jelly with some of the habanero peppers.
We enjoy this jam on biscuits, rolls, crackers with cream cheese, on meats etc. It comes in handy for family/friend gatherings for appetizers and snacks.
