Random Tidbits

Our 14 year-old daughter is on the way to D.C. with her 8th grade class today.  They return Saturday.  She's the last one in the family to go.   Although big snow flakes are falling , the weather is pretty nice for them today, so they should have a fun time.   Praying for a safe trip.

It has been, and will continue to be a busy week of running kids here and there.

My "eye health" tea ran out, so I took time yesterday to mix up some butcher's broom and dried bilberries.  I just add freshly grated ginger when I brew it.  Bilberries are sometimes difficult to get, but I can tell you 4 ounces is equal to 1 cup.  And they are somewhat expensive when purchased organic (but worth it).

I have more old recipes to purge.  I found a stack of some that I never even tried, and had placed in my old recipe box. Ha! I found folded up papers, and so much stuff I can let go of.  Today, I'm copying my Grandmother's recipes that I do use, to larger cards, or adding them to my computer (I just like to have a printed back up, and do not like to rely on my computer).  The original recipes, handwritten on 3 x5 cards are being handed down to the kids.

I made a quick trip to the library and have a stack of books to look through.  Today, I honestly feel like doing nothing.  My morning routine is out of whack, and I tend to let that throw off my day.

Hubby is feeling better.  I had to yell at him to gargle with salt water.  He can be stubborn.  So many people forget the simple power of salt.

I can so relate to having your first of the day, morning routine go astray which seems to throw you off for the whole day. Or when you decide to do one specific thing of a day (and have it done once and for all) before hitting all the must-dos, and "life" gets in the way of doing that one specific thing! (Can you tell my morning is not going the way I planned?)

Keep taking care of yourself and your hubby. Sounds as though you haven't quite shaken the germs and neither has he.

Mama Pea, there is a widespread of bad illnesses in our area. I'm trying to stay away from leaving the house, but Hubby has to go to work. This week I do have a lot of running around in the car.

Praying for a safe DC trip too.
I believe in the power of salt to heal too. I once picked up a HUGE splinter off a wooden deck at the beach. It went deep through the ball of my foot from behind my toes, right through the meaty part. It was awful. Being too stubborn to go to a doctor or hospital, I sat right there and dug it out with a razor blade someone got me from a nearby convenience store. I thought I'd never get my shoe on for work the next day, but spent the rest of that weekend sitting down in the surf letting ocean salt water wash over that foot, and I'm honestly telling you, by the next day, there was no swelling, and with a bandage and a sock, I DID get my shoe on and go to work two days later, and have never had a problem with it since.
Prayers also for a safe happy weekend for everyone.
God bless.
