Open Window Weather

These few pieces of furniture made there way out to the porch over a week ago (tee hee).  Although there was a teensy chill, I opened windows (again).

I tried another "new" recipe from the pile last night - overnight french toast casserole.  I didn't really follow it completely, and used a topping recipe from another recipe.  It was good, and easy to make.  Just very sweet, so a vegetable hash side would have been nice.

Hubby brought home steaks to grill, in anticipation of grilling season.  I whipped up a marinade and today we'll grill them and slather them with whiskey/blue cheese butter.

I'll be honest.  I have not crocheted one thing since, well, it must be over a week now.  I could not do it when Youngest was sick and we had the extra puppy, and then I just didn't feel like it.  That's a shocker for you.  I didn't feel like it.  I think there is something wrong with me, ha ha!

I, however, finished a 417 page book.  That's another shocker.  I read most of it on the road trip last weekend.

Our 14 year-old is back in school, but our 16 year-old continued to run a fever yesterday.  I made a double batch of homemade ginger-ale syrup, and put another jar of home canned applesauce in the fridge.  She's having trouble keeping anything down, along with a very sore throat.  It's been hot herbal teas/honey, and tea tree oil.  If she cannot breathe yet today, I'll boil water and add some eucalyptus oil for her to inhale.  If she continues to run a fever (it would be day 4), I'll be taking her back to a doctor.

You are so good at trying new recipes! I go through my "stash" of ones to try and get all enthused . . . but then end up cooking the same old, same old. Maybe that's because there are just the two of us? If I were feeding more regularly, a new recipe would get eaten whether it was good . . . or bad!?

I've been on a bit of a reading kick lately, too. Actually reading when hubby and I sit down at night for wind-down time rather than doing handwork. Of course, now I feel my handwork has been neglected. Never enough hours, are there?

Mama Pea, I don't know but I just don't feel like doing any handiwork. I do have more books to read, ha ha! I'm trying another new pasta recipe tonight to go with the steaks and baked sweet potatoes. Now that I have more vegetarians here, I don't have to buy as much meat.

Prayers for your young'un. Strep and ear infections can be so hard to beat. Often the antibiotics given for them can cause harsh side effects like yeast infections and such, so be sure to accompany them with yogurt if it's permitted with that particular antibiotic.
It's a glorious day here, and I'd open the windows, but we live on a dirt road and the pollen has begun to fly thickly from all the pine-type trees, so we can't. We do have window air conditioners though, and I can turn them to fan only and bring in the cooler air without all that junk, cause the filter in the a/c stops most of it.
We've been selling a lot of cook out items at the store. Everyone's excited to see Spring creeping in, although it's been more very hot Summer like weather which I don't care for. Still, you get what you get, no matter where you live. It's a fact of life!
Prayers everyone has a safe and blessed weekend.
God bless.
