Making my own stitch markers....

Too flimsy

Rings are too hard to use, and time consuming to use.  The lobster claw ones I have have fallen off before and are hard to get on and off.

I do not like the ring stich markers, and the clasp ones are hard to get on an off when you need one for every row on a project that is small.

I decided to make my own using charms I already had on hand.  I love my craft supplies, and sometimes they actually come in handy ha ha!

I found these larger earring clasps which I love!  They work so much better than the lobster claw clasp.

The sky is very pretty this morning, but if I was a weather guesser, I would guess a storm is about to come thru later today.

Whacky Weather

The fog continues, and we will continue to be in the upper 70's, but wind and rain return.  I was hoping for rain to finish weeding the flower beds, but the wind could be up to 50mph (according to the weather man).

I'm getting a bit worried about the living room floor, but we'll know what we are dealing with soon.

Foggy and Warm Days

Yesterday started with a very foggy morning.  Schools closed because of it.  Go figure, I needed to run errands as well.  I chose to stay in until the fog lifted.

It's foggy and warmer again today.  It's definitely odd weather for November in our parts.

I had an errand day, so my day went fast, and we met up and visited with Daughter E and her boyfriend.  I didn't get a photo, but we visited with our "grandson" Tiger (the cat).  Oh, he loved on us.  He's not doing well stomach-wise.  She's taking him to the vet for a shot to help with that.  He eats special food, and she can't find it anywhere right now.  Pet food has been hard to get in our area.

My 22-some year old kitchenaid mixer is on the fritz.  I added it to the list, but boy are they expensive right now.  Sheesh.  Everything is expensive.  Anyway, I use it all the time, and my husband even tried to work on it.

Random Acts of Kindness Crochet Idea ~ Other Ramblings

I have so many works in progress in regards to crochet/knit.  In the process of cleaning up my mess on the kitchen table, I decided to finished up what I started and these extra paper clips were made into random acts of kindness giveaways.  In addition to these I have made mini hearts and mini dog bones as well.  It's an item that just never sells, so I'll dig out my heart ones I already have made.

My Mom was big on random acts of kindness.  I'm sure she is seeing what I'm doing and smiling.  If you think of anything cute and small to crochet for these please comment below.  I'm using the Jumbo size paper clips.

Recipes and patterns were sorted, but I found that I'm missing one page for a crochet pattern.  Go figure, ha ha!

We are down to one large log to cut and split for winter, the exercise equipment is all put back together, and we are still making plans for alternate heat in one part of the house.

Happy November 1st!

My new Christmas light may be the only Christmas decor going up this year.  I do love it.  It doesn't play music, but it looks like it's snowing inside, and the barn is so cute.  I told my husband the ceramic tree my Grandmother made is buried behind two book shelves, so if he wants it up, we better get the floor done before December.

I made great progress yesterday with kitchen clean up, but all of the work out equipment upstairs is still in pieces, and difficult for me to get around it to put things away.  I sure hope our handy man is coming back to put it back together.

Every single canned jar was labeled and properly put where it belongs.  Recipe books went back to their shelf, and counter tops sanitized.

My fitbit racked up over 12,000 steps when I put laundry on the line last week (and pulled hot peppers).   Now we enter the time of year we get to rest and recoup to gain that energy we all need come spring.  I do not lack crochet/knit projects, that are not finished, so I am looking forward to that.

It would be so nice to spend Christmas in a cabin somewhere.  Maybe some day.  I am just hoping the living room repairs are completed before at least Christmas.

Happy Fall Y'all!

Happy Homemaker Monday

It's definitely back to reality today.  The treadmill, and other work out equipment are all moved to the upstairs.  The table I used for the sewing machine was moved upstairs, and the sofa moved as well.  It'll feel like a zoo around here again, but we are making progress.  The armoire we had used for the TV left the house Friday to a good friend.  Today I will measure an area rug from the living room.  If it's too big for a room upstairs, we'll donate it to the Habitat Re-store.

Today I am joining Sandra at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom.

I'll link up when she posts.

The weather . . .

Rain, drizzle, 60's.

As I look outside my window . . .

It's still dark out.

Right now I am . . .

Making more coffee, as it shuts off at 6am from the pre-set 4am pot.

Thinking and pondering . . .

We are considering taking the pellet stove out and replacing it with a gas fireplace.  The cost of pellets compared to gas is the question.

How I am feeling . . .

Mixed feelings.  It's hard to focus when there is so much going on in the house - move this to there, there to here, here to over there (ha ha!).

On the breakfast plate . . .

Have no idea yet.  Will figure that out soon.

What I am wearing  . . .

Still in PJ's, robe and slippers

On the reading pile  . . .

Haven't open  my recent book for a long time.

On the TV. . .

We just finished the 3rd older Walking Tall movie (watched all three).

 On the menu. . .

-Cajun Sausage and Red Beans, Quinoa, Broccoli
-Bruschetta chicken casserole (will try this with my home canned bruschetta)

Looking around the house . . .
It's chaotic, but I know when it's all done it will be beautiful and we'll have peace of mind getting the joists fixed.

To-do list . . .
-make a breakfast
-vacuum area rug, and deal with that
-go thru mail, clean up desk area
-label all the last canned jars and put away
-put canning recipe books away
....basically today is clean up all of the kitchen day (the best I can, as plants will be rotated back to the kitchen for their safety as we start working on ripping out carpet to see what we are dealing with).

From the camera . . .
We visited a new zoo (all outdoor) over the weekend.  It was spontaneous, and found out about it by accident, ha ha!  We got these birds, and others to talk to us.  Two ladies were watching us and got their cameras out, ha ha!  They'd say "I love you,"  "Hello,"  and laugh back when we laughed.  Loved it.  We squeezed some fun in a beautiful weekend, but it's back to work again today.

Devotional. . .
Prayers for our friends who are moving to another state.  For our friend's wife A.  She was in the hospital for heart issues.

Sunny Day ~ More Cactus Blooms

We had a beautiful sunny day, but it was cold.  Look at all those leaves.  A dog's dream.  Jesse loved to run and jump in piles of them.  Of course, out in the country, we do not rake these.

Mom's Zygo cactus has more buds this time around.  So beautiful.
