Quality Clothespins?

My clothespins seem to disappear often around here.  We take some camping too.  The kids use them for wall tents (and me too).

I went to Wal-mart to buy new ones (where I typically find them in the larger size), but came home with these.

They are clearly not the larger, and sturdy ones.  These clothespins will pop off in a good wind, sending my laundry sailing into air.

Where oh where have the quality clothespins gone?  Wal-mart stopped selling them, and are selling these cheap, dollar store versions, instead. Hmpf.

And probably made in China as well LOL. The ones I got a couple of years ago were the little ones, I just use more of them to keep things on the line. If you find a place that sells the heavy duty ones, let all of us know.

I bought my last clothespins from Lehmans. They were rather expensive but much better than those from the dollar store or walmart.

Was it you I told about Lee Valley? They carry quality items at reasonable prices I think and I know they carry them. I have gotten most of mine from my Mother and also at garage sales and even thrift stores and antique stores. I've gotten 2 clothes pin bags full of pins...all the old fashioned ones...some round and some clip. I even found some that look like they were hand carved and I'm pretty sure they were! I'm trying to carch up with my visiting....I'll be back!

Yep, the last batch I bought at Wal-Mart were those itty-bitty ones too. :(

I'm having the same problem here. Finding quality clothes pins.

I think I have found some nice ones at K-mart before, but those stores are hard to find most place too. I'll check around here and let you all know. I'll google the other places you mention too. Thanks!

Now that's funny, I've just come home from the supermarket (in France) after having bought wooden pegs, very similar to the small ones in your photo!! We are going to use them to make snowflakes, I have resorted to plastic for the washing as they tend to last longer!
