On the Hooks ~ Frost Warning (again) ~ Spearmint Seeds Inquiry

Crocheting a rag rug.  This project is on hold for now.  I am having to use all my spare sheets and pillow cases to cover my asparagus, rhubarb, etc.  We had another freeze/frost warning.  Once the cold wave passes, I'll make more strips of old sheets to finish this rug.

Knitting a dishcloth in red/white and blue.

A set of pot holders.  Sorry for the bad photo.

Off the hook. . .

A new dishcloth pattern.  I learned the waffle stitch this year, which is very easy to do.  I however, feel this is way too thick for a dishcloth.  It also uses twice the amount of yarn than a regular crocheted dishcloth.  It's going in my stash of cleaning cloths and will be used for that.

I dug out my tatting, but haven't yet got back to it to see if I even remember how to do it.  Could be fun.  Who knows.

Does anyone have extra organic spearmint seeds?  My potted plant died and I cannot get the seeds from High Mowing, Territorial, Baker Creek, Sow True,  PineTree or Strictly Medicinal Seeds.  A packet costs about $3 so I can barter as well.

from the handiwork journal . . .

...finished the blueberry hot pad set.

. . . finally finished the knitted dishcloth.  Started another set and also finished it.  I literally sold this set I put together right after I put it up on my other blog (who also ordered the second set).

....got more of the yellow netting cut, but still need to cut pink as well.

....finished a coral set of hot pads.  Started a yellow set.

. . . finished a hat for myself, and I love it.  It's very warm.  I will use this pattern for making some to sell for next year's craft shows.  I hope I can get more colors at a good price.

...crocheted these paw print ornaments for the fall craft show.

...crocheted a few cows.  Just need to get eyes on the cats next.

. . . got a set of coffee cup coasters done.

. . . I got a few more wine cork Christmas trees done. I'll put up a "how-to" soon on my S.C.R.A.P. blogspot.

The clock is ticking closer to the craft show, with a holiday in between it all (3 for us, sigh...), so I'm busy, busy, busy with handiwork.

I'm up early to get the fire stoked.  We got snow last night.  I'll be working on more wine cork Christmas trees.   I can't believe I'm finally using them all up (and no I didn't drink all that, ha ha!  I had a restaurant save them for me many years ago and found them cleaning my closet).

. . . from the Handiwork Journal

✔Spray painted more clipboards.

✔Booked two craft shows.  One in Nov. and one in Dec.

✔Cut up 10 yards of blue netting, cut up 10 yards of netting, then pink is next.  It's quite a job too.  I have to cut 10 yards in 3 inch strips.  I found an easier way, but it's still time consuming.

I want to add items to my craft shows for men.  What else besides these items would sell?

Hat
Scarf
Bookmark
Cup cozy
Slippers?  Not sure these would sell
eyeglass cases

. . . .from the handiwork journal

. . . made this for myself in memory of "Little Man" and we plan to make one for his Mom too.  The girls are making one for themselves as well.  I'll switch it out for a silver chain later.

. . .finished a set of soft violet hot pads.

. . .finished a set of navy hot pads (an order).

. . . finished these dish scrubbies (an order from a friend of the family).

. . . cut some more netting for more scrubbies.

Got all of these bracelets finished and started another one.  I have a 2 hour craft show coming up soon.

Does anyone make and sell (reasonably priced) felt needle books?  I realized when I'm traveling overnight for a retreat/vacation, I could really use one.

from the handiwork journal . . .

Finished this bracelet - a special request.  I had trouble with the green beads, but overall turned out nice.  I won't buy beads from the company that made the green ones again.  They were not the exact size as specified and I had to use my tool to enlarge the holes on almost all of them (green).  Anyway, it turned out nice.

Finished these bracelets as well, but they need ends sewn in and buttons yet.  The black one was finished and gifted.  I'll be making more.

Finished these sets of pot holders.  That bottom one was the new yarn I bought.  It's not the colors I thought it would be, but it reminds me of a cabin in the woods sort of color.

Finished this dishcloth (knitted) and a matching set of pot holders.

The positive aspect of having to sit around with my leg up, is that all of this has gained me more to sell at the winter craft show (s).  I'm completely out of my black yarn, so my "f" bombs are not restocked, nor the dish scrubbies, but it's on the to-do list.

....from the handiwork journal

It's a long shot, but if any of my crocheting followers have this yarn, and want to get rid of it (could barter too), I am looking for more of it.

It has been discontinued.  Pisgah yarn and dye, #198 Black Cherry (cotton, a variation of pinks, gray, black and white).  I've had a request for a set of hot pads, but I don't have enough of it to make another set.

....working on this beaded crocheted bracelet now.

. . . finished these two orders and got them shipped.

. . . and this bracelet.  I'm working on bracelets to stock up for the fall holiday craft show.  One person had to back out of her order (left her husband and doesn't have the money), and the other hasn't responded).

....spray painting more clipboards.  If you are making these, now is a good time to buy the pens for them.  They are on sale for $1.00 with school starting.  They need a few more coats of paint, and then I start painting a few more.

....still working on a set of hot pads.  Last piece to finish before I crochet them together.

....starting to make us some new washcloths, but with a new pattern.  The pattern is free online - Moss Stitch Washcloth (The Stitchin Mommy). I'm going to make more this winter for the camper too.

(old photo, but you get the idea)
....cutting up more egg cartons for campfire fire starters.

...from the handiwork journal

Got one of these made for the kids for next Christmas.  Instead of gluing scrap fabric on it, I found some cute stickers at the dollar store.  The "how to" is found on my S.C.R.A.P. blogspot - Magnetic Clipboards with notepad and pen.

. . . getting my knitted dishcloths restocked (big seller), but really need to double this amount before fall.  All a different color, and some with discontinued yarn.

. . . got a few more Teabag Travel Totes crocheted.  They can also hold a few packets of hot cocoa or other small items.

. . . found some "scrubby" yarn on sale and made a few of thinner dish scrubbies to try.  Already delivered one to my Mom to get her opinion.  She wanted a thinner one with her arthritic hands.  These sell for about 4 for $10 on Etsy (pretty high in price for my opinion).  I guess it depends on what you pay for the yarn.  Regular price is $4.24 skein.  Higher if you buy online.  These are so much easier to make vs. cutting netting, but those will eventually get done too.

. . . finished this hand embroidered dish towel.  Just need to iron it to gift.

. . .started on some Christmas Ornaments.  I may not post the final ornament until they are gifted, so you may have to wait to see them.  I actually got 5 of them finished.

. . .started on a Christmas present - Granny Square Scarf.  I just need to get 4 black squares done next.

from the handiwork journal . . .

...red set of pot holders are finished.

. . . these 3 knitted dishcloths are now finished.

. . . got netting cut and crocheted, to restock a few scrubbies.

. . . a few hemp dish scrubbies.

. . . finished the blue rose cup coasters, making progress on the yellow rose cup coasters (I ended up finishing a set of 4 yesterday).

Woke up to snow again today.  It's hard to believe we had a 67° day this week.
