This and That ~ Canning

It didn't take long for the recent medical bills to start flowing in (again).  I spent time on the phone taking care of those, so I can pay monthly until they are at reasonable amounts to fully pay off.

A bit of sad news.  The small quilt shop that I have wanted to take lessons at (and procrastinated for years) is now closing it's doors.  It was very close to home too, and local.  I guess Youtube and I have a date this winter.  The sewing machine sits and waits for me.  Yeah, not happening any day soon due to the last haul of tomatoes.

Lemony Tomato-Basil soup was canned first.  I had very little basil in the herb garden, so I did a mix of parsley and basil this time.

Next, I canned more seasoned tomato sauce.

More tomatoes remain. More need picked.

Bell peppers were chopped and frozen.  Had I not posted this photo on my blog, I would have forgotten that I put them in the freezer to "flash" freeze them first.  Ha ha ha!

I managed to cut several zinnia tops off for next spring. Seed saving continues.

I finally re-planted two herbs outdoors.  A bit late but it warmed up and now we have rain.  Feverfew and one lonely organic seed lavender plant.  The feverfew looks great, but the lavender is struggling.  Hopefully both will acclimate outdoor temps before winter.  I killed my Gotu Kola plant seedling during my illness.

Green tomatoes were picked.  I had very little.

Wednesday I actually got a little bit of housework done while the tomato sauce reduced.  Recovery police will be after me for not sitting and putting my leg up.

Houseplants were watered before I kill any more of them.  Laundry done and put away, bed made.....

...carpets swept, jars labeled and put in the pantry, chickens treated with over-ripe cucumbers, mail brought in and sorted, one table tidied up a tiny bit, and rain arrived so remaining laundry was put on drying racks indoors.

I have a plan for the housework.

We'll see how the cleaning plan goes in a week or two.

This is such a busy time of year - even without all the weather issues and spider bites! Looks like you are keeping (barely) up with it. Speaking of keeping things 'up'.... nudge, nudge... :)
Susan, you are right. Ha ha, I am barely keeping up right now. If I can, I have little energy (or ambition) to tackle other work in the midst of it.

Apples and Tomatoes Oh My!

The early morning weather here has been downright chilly.  One morning it was 42 degrees.  Flower beds have been weeded.  The herb garden is next in line, but I do need to figure out what to do with all the rosemary plants I planted in the actual vegetable garden.  I have not mastered keeping them alive all winter indoors.  They will not survive the winter if left outside. Did any of my blog writing followers locate a better "blog" platform online?  Just curious if anyone is moving from blogger.

Under the Weather ~ What's Growing?

I have not been around in blogland much, due to being under the weather after I pushed myself way to far one day.  I have to remember we cannot do it all in one day.  Thank goodness for teas and tinctures, and healing foods (and rest).  We are feeling better. As for our blogs being used for advertising on many websites, and so forth (I can't see any other reason for the source of views: howstuffworks, dominospizza, mayoclinic {not the blog readers interested in my actual blog}) the numbers continue to climb.  I have not found a way to "opt" out either.  If any of you find a new way to avoid this, blog elsewhere, find a new platform etc, please be sure to share.   If your blog has ads, you are are not going to complain, ha ha!  You are probably making a bucko-bucks with all these visitors to your blog. Okay, back to the update post . . .

16 Weeks Until Christmas

It's not hard to believe that we are traveling closer to the winter holidays.  I'm trying to focus on enjoying every single day until then, but I am fitting in a few snippets of holiday preparing.  Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year.  It's hard to believe it's the last day of August. I have not yet gotten rid of the links to all the advertisers using my blog posts, but again, still working on it. However, my profile has gone from my blog, and while I am in settings, it is not able to add as a "gadget" to the blog.  Weird things are happening.   Google had a data breach recently as well, so gmail users were advised to change passwords.  Not sure what else is going on, but just in case you are wondering why my "profile" is not on my blog any longer.   Okay, back to the Christmas countdown post . . .
