One year ago (9-25-13), we drove to the county dog shelter. The shelter is a "kill" shelter.
We came home with 12 year old (best they could guess) Alias, a pitbull mix. He was badly malnourished, but very active and playful. He accepted our two dogs immediately upon arrival at home.
He never chases the barn cats, the chickens, or bothers the house cats.
A Year Later
He's gained weight and his bones don't stick out anymore. He's still learning to not eat the trash, but he's happy, healthy and loved. And he's an excellent "watch dog."

Happy Adoptive Birthday!
And he is a lucky old fart to have found a forever home full of love.
God bless you for rescuing him!!! He is one lucky pooch!! Happy weekend to you friend!
Yay, Alias! Good boy!! He's one lucky dog you brought him into your loving home.
Ah what a cutie! All of our pets are from shelters.
What a happy guy! Glad he found his forever home!
Bless your hearts BIG for rescuing Alias from a place that calls itself a "shelter" yet is high-kill meaning they actually "shelter" nothing, but are nothing more than a POUND.
It makes no sense to me that a place would continue to take in animals they have no space for, killing the healthy ones they've had the longest for no more reason than to make room for new "stock." If you or I did that, we'd go to jail, and rightly so.
No organization that kills healthy animals is "humane" or is a "shelter." Those animals would be safer living as strays on the streets than finding themselves in one of those places.
Praying for all animals in need and for those who humanely do shelter them and for those who take them into their homes and hearts.
God bless.
