New Recipe Tried and other Bits

I tried a new granola recipe and boy it's good.  First, it's a recipe from Mennonite Girls and Cook, and called "Backpack Snacks" online.  It calls for granola, so I used my homemade granola that we love.  Picture is the dry ingredients.

Second, I pressed the final mixture into a 9 x 9, parchment lined baking dish instead of rolling it into balls.  The color of these photos are all different, because of the time of day, and how dark the house was from the thick Canadian smoke that was still outside at the time.

These cut very nicely, and were very good, straight from the refrigerator.  It was hard to eat just one of them.  I will be making this again, and switching out the peanuts with walnuts, and switching out the raisins with dates.  Oh my!  The binder is honey and peanut butter.

These are perfect for your hiking days, camping, your grandkids, or just for snacks when you want one.

The rain arrived thank goodness, and washed the smoke in the air away.  The wind arrived too.

Cherry tomatoes are finally (yay!!!) turning red.

Kale, that was re-planted has sprouted.

We tried Halibut for the first time, and we loved it.

The peach tree we planted last year has 2 peaches on it, and the plum tree we planted this year has 3 plums on it.

Weather is 87/67°F, and possibly more rain (yay, we need it).

These snacks sound good. I like trying new recipes and I am like you and generally modify them the second to be more to our liking.
I had been wondering if you were affected by the smoke, so I am happy for your rain.
Our tomatoes are producing like crazy now.
Looks like a good snack! Glad your smoke is less today.

Your temps sound good (compared to here) but the smoke does not! I'm glad you've had rain and wind to help. I just hope the wind is blowing the right way!

Your granola bars look really good. Perfect snack food.
Anne in the kitchen, we love the snacks. Yes, so glad we got rain. Happy to hear that your tomatoes are growing great too.
Far Side of Fifty, thanks.
Leigh, it was the worst air to be out in. We were so grateful for the rain and wind. Thanks. The snack turned out really good.

Glad the smoke has cleared away for you. We used to have that all of the time in Spokane and it's not fun, that's for sure. That granola looks really good. Sorry I've been away. There is no good reason. Just feeling a bit down and didn't have anything to say! Ha! Now if you asked my husband he would say that rarely happens! Ha!
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
Betsy, I sure hope you are feeling good again soon. Sometimes the weather can really play a part in our moods too. Blessings and hugs back to you too.
