Tidbits

Our weather is warming up soon, or so they say anyway.  We are looking forward to sunny days again.

We've obtained asparagus roots, and will expand our existing asparagus patch in the vegetable garden this spring.  We will not be planting anything squash related this year, to give the garden a "clean sweep" from squash bugs.

We are late, but seeds will be started for a few garden goodies, including a few for the herb garden (that are medicinal herbs).

The next room to clean out, prior to giving it a planned new coat of paint, is a room where my canning supplies are stored.  I may be reducing the numbers in there.

I still have the supplies to can our favorite "Christmas" jelly, which did not happen.  Not sure if it will yet or not.

The winter has been a long winter, and not much blog content, here are a few fun freebies we snagged.

Free bookmarks.  I absolutely love this one.  It was the last one at one of the area libraries.  No purchase necessary.

Free stickers (these were sent in the mail to me).  Not sure what I'll use them for, but they'd make fun snail mail or I could slap them on a a cover of a notebook, journal, or gift maybe.  I love the barn sticker.  No purchase necessary.  I do have a few more free stickers we picked up at another event last year.  Stickers seem to be the rage right now.

As winter dwindles, we are looking forward to another garden year, but we are reading forecasted dry weather.  We've seen it all, experienced it all, so we will just have to wait and see.

I'm ready for spring and warmer weather. Stickers are the rage right now. I find them everywhere, from our coffee shop to the used book store, actually, most stores downtown.
Jeanna, yes, we are so ready for the warmer weather. I know it brings rain and muddy messes, but we are so over winter this year. We are seeing stickers just about everywhere too.

I know you're glad it is warming up some. I'll be glad for that here too. You have some of the same plans but I've been so slack. lol...Fun to see what others are planning and thinking about. xoxo Dolly

After some warm days last week, we had a really cold snap of below zero again. Today was back up to 60 and 70's are predicted for tomorrow and Saturday before cooling down to the 40's. We'll take it though. Still wanted to go camping soon but not sure when or where. We're even thinking of heading down to Joplin, Missouri for a few days and then to Galveston, TX. Still in the planning stages.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
Hibiscus House, we are said to get up to 68 degrees again, but it will bring us possible rain. I hope the rain is very little, so we can enjoy the outdoors again soon.
Betsy, camping sounds so relaxing, and we too cannot wait to get some trips in this year. Sounds like your weather is up and down like ours, but I do like the thought of 70 degrees again.
Wish we were closer to Spring! It will come in late May!
Far Side of Fifty, I am so ready for spring after this very very long winter of ours.

Apples and Tomatoes Oh My!

The early morning weather here has been downright chilly.  One morning it was 42 degrees.  Flower beds have been weeded.  The herb garden is next in line, but I do need to figure out what to do with all the rosemary plants I planted in the actual vegetable garden.  I have not mastered keeping them alive all winter indoors.  They will not survive the winter if left outside. Did any of my blog writing followers locate a better "blog" platform online?  Just curious if anyone is moving from blogger.

Under the Weather ~ What's Growing?

I have not been around in blogland much, due to being under the weather after I pushed myself way to far one day.  I have to remember we cannot do it all in one day.  Thank goodness for teas and tinctures, and healing foods (and rest).  We are feeling better. As for our blogs being used for advertising on many websites, and so forth (I can't see any other reason for the source of views: howstuffworks, dominospizza, mayoclinic {not the blog readers interested in my actual blog}) the numbers continue to climb.  I have not found a way to "opt" out either.  If any of you find a new way to avoid this, blog elsewhere, find a new platform etc, please be sure to share.   If your blog has ads, you are are not going to complain, ha ha!  You are probably making a bucko-bucks with all these visitors to your blog. Okay, back to the update post . . .

16 Weeks Until Christmas

It's not hard to believe that we are traveling closer to the winter holidays.  I'm trying to focus on enjoying every single day until then, but I am fitting in a few snippets of holiday preparing.  Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year.  It's hard to believe it's the last day of August. I have not yet gotten rid of the links to all the advertisers using my blog posts, but again, still working on it. However, my profile has gone from my blog, and while I am in settings, it is not able to add as a "gadget" to the blog.  Weird things are happening.   Google had a data breach recently as well, so gmail users were advised to change passwords.  Not sure what else is going on, but just in case you are wondering why my "profile" is not on my blog any longer.   Okay, back to the Christmas countdown post . . .
