Handmade/Homemade Christmas 2014

Here is what I gifted extended families this year (hint: not the baking dish):

I crocheted larger, over-sized hot pads for each family. They fit perfectly under a 13 x 9 inch pan or cookie/baking sheet.

I like the look of them, using the afghan stitch, and edging them with the crab stitch.  It takes longer to make vs. doing a simple single crochet, but has a nice look to it.  Each family received one to match their kitchen colors.

They were also given a jar of home grown rosemary from my herb garden.  I put the rosemary in recycled baby food jars. Don't worry, the baby food carrots did not go to waste.  We made carrot cake with it.

They also received a jar of homemade Cinnamon-Blueberry jam.

I also made handmade hand lotion.  A few received lemon hand lotion, and a few received unscented.  We really like this recipe and will continue to make it.

Everyone received a bag of homemade sorghum candy as well.

I also brought along home canned "pop" jelly for anyone to try if the wanted to.  I made Orange pop and Rootbeer jelly.

And now you get to see the project that I was stressing about.

I crocheted Mom a lap blanket, to match the accents in her living room.

Dad was gifted homemade buckeye candy.  This is the only thing he ever asks for, and he savors them all year long, by freezing them (and taking out one every so often).

.....until next Christmas....

Merry Christmas everyone!

You're to be given so much credit for making this such a "handmade" (hand-cooked?) Christmas. Anyone who does that not only puts so much time into their gifts but also so much love.

Best wishes for a wonderful holiday season to you and all your family!

All of your gifts are great. I really have to get myself going earlier for 2015.
