Laundry Day

April is always a battle against the rains.  My stack of laundry piled up yesterday, but we are expecting windy weather today – perfect for drying outside.

Upcycling ~ Old Wooden Framed Windows

We have been blessed with free, old wooden framed windows.  I am not certain, but we may be building a green house with them soon.  We can use it to start our seeds early, and grow plants later into the cooler months as well.

Lola ~ Our One Tetratint

The baby chicks are not yet ready to go outside yet.  Once they have all of their feathers, and the weather is nice, we can finally put them in their separate coop from the hens.  I am praying they all get along, and that we don’t have more than one rooster in this new batch of barred rocks.  Our plan is to sell eggs by the roadside this summer. That is, if we have any extras after making homemade noodles, etc. and sharing with our families.  They love their new organic chicken feed.

April ~ It's a New Month

I find that surprising someone each month, with "fun" mail, is rewarding in many ways. Today is a new day, a new month, and a perfect time to let someone know you love them.  Dig out your stationary or recycled paper, and make someone’s day this month.

Whirley-Pop Vs. Microwave Popcorn

We have converted.  We have stopped buying microwave popcorn and purchased a whirley-pop popper.  I can remember my mother making popcorn for us that way as a child.  My kids love the flavor much better than the microwave popcorn.  I’ve never been they type of person to “cook” or “bake” food in the microwave, but have reheated foods a lot.  For us, the purchase of the whirley-pop was well worth it. Now, the next step is to find organic corn for the popper.

Today is another laundry detergent making day.  It will fill a 5 gallon bucket.
