Walnut Shell Campfire Starters

Winter is a good time for me to sit and make homemade campfire fire starters, but I recently made another dozen. You can get directions here.

These come in handy to take camping or for starting a backyard fire.

Blanching them doesn't take long, you'll need to score top and bottom, pop them in the hot water for a few minutes, and then into the cold that skin will peel right off. This works on tomatoes also. I thought it would be time consuming, not as bad by far then peeling them, skin comes off clean as a whistle.

Thanks Faith, I have done it with tomatoes but not peaches. Good to know.
