Wine Journal ~ Journal Junkie

This journal junkie has yet another journal to share.  I had to blow the dust off of this one.  I had so much trouble removing wine labels that I put this journal away for years.

I was talking to my sister-in-law, and found out she has one, and has these nifty label removers.  I went in search for some, and gave them a whirl.

You place the remover over the label, and let it sit for 24 hours.

You then lift, and wa-la, the label is off.  Most of it anyway.  My journal does not have enough space to place the label right on the page, but has pockets.

I placed my label on card stock, then trimmed it, and wrote notes on the supplied pages.  I'm happy to see that one wine store, not to far from us, now stocks organic wines.

Frey is an organic wine we once ordered via the mail, but only once (too expensive to ship).

Extreme clean update?

I attacked two large bookshelves yesterday.  It was a job I did not like after starting it.

I have one shelf of 25 journals.  All different.  Seriously.  You heard me right.  Yikes.  That includes the wine journal.  I pulled everything off.  Discarded over 50 books to the thrift, a huge box of clothes from the girls and from Hubby, and several other items.

Back to the books.  I re-organized, and put all of my "homesteading" books on one area, my crochet and knitting are now all together, all printed patterns moved to page covers, in binders and in another area, went through a huge section of kids books and dispersed them to another home.  I decided to pull off several unread books and re-home (in the house) them so that I can read them all this winter.  I cleaned off the tops of the bookshelves (Hubby was putting stuff up there), and gave a few journals to the kids that I just didn't want anymore - one was blank, one was a collage journal (where you cut and paste to a theme of your life), and one was thrifted.  One book, possibly two belonged to my sister, so those went in a bag, and into my car trunk.

I also found a pile of recipes.  Sigh....or more like hmpf!  I have clipped them together, and must have put them there in a hurry last year, and forgot about them.  I am tempted to burn them, but  right on top is a recipe for a collard frittata.  Darn it.  I'm going to have to try it.

The rest of the crew scrubbed down the house siding, and back patio, cleaned the gutters and more.  We all ate a late lunch on the back patio.   They all left, and it was back inside to finish up the bookshelves, then back to my bedroom to clean off the dresser.

I know it's Sunday and I should be taking the day off, but I never got the all-over bathroom cleaning done, once that is done, and all the bathroom cupboards are cleaned out and wiped down, I might be able to take a break on the porch.   And maybe, just maybe, I'll have time to catch up with reading all your wonderful blog posts.

Oh my word! I'm tired just reading about everything you did... (I hope that came out right) I'm not tired of reading about your cleaning, I'm tired from it! You are one busy lady!
Hey! I have a college journal now! :) We have to keep one in English... just another to add to my growing collection.
I'm taking a cue from your extreme cleaning habit and think I'm going to get the bathroom done this evening and perhaps clean (dust) the shelves in my bedroom...BOY! DO THEY NEED IT.

You are doing awesome! I'm doing the same just at about 1/3 of your pace and I bet I take more breaks than you do. It's back in the 90's again with humidity to boot so inside cleaning will be the name of the game this week. I am employing the "divide and conquer" method with plastic bins in the room so I don't have to make lots of trips...one for each room where the item REALLY belongs! LOL! Here's to great accomplishments this week at your house and mine!

You are a real dynamo when it comes to deep cleaning! Hope some of it rubs off on me as I'm reading of your accomplishments.

Also, you are a writer. Look at all those journals!
Mama Pea, I counted wrong, I have 26 journals. I found my camping journal lingering in another location, ha ha! We are still cleaning...
Patricia, I had two extra adult helpers here yesterday, and two of their kids too. And...I have more to do. We are thankful for the help too.
Sam I am, that tote system is a good idea. I used up all my boxes and delivered extra stuff to the thrift. I'll have to remember your system if I have to do this again next fall. The girls said they will try harder to keep things put away. We'll see.

I wonder if that label remover will remove the labels from the interesting bottles I sometimes run across. I like to put colored water in them and sit them on windowsills like ladies did in the old days, but it's been such a struggle getting some of the labels off, I often procrastinate doing it at all, and hence, end up with a corner on my kitchen counter with those odd shaped bottles with labels still on them.
I hope you all have a blessed and safe week.
God bless.

RB, I bought the label removers off Amazon. They pull most of the label off. The girls have used some of the bottles to put sand in from CA and shells from my craft supply.

Apples and Tomatoes Oh My!

The early morning weather here has been downright chilly.  One morning it was 42 degrees.  Flower beds have been weeded.  The herb garden is next in line, but I do need to figure out what to do with all the rosemary plants I planted in the actual vegetable garden.  I have not mastered keeping them alive all winter indoors.  They will not survive the winter if left outside. Did any of my blog writing followers locate a better "blog" platform online?  Just curious if anyone is moving from blogger.

Under the Weather ~ What's Growing?

I have not been around in blogland much, due to being under the weather after I pushed myself way to far one day.  I have to remember we cannot do it all in one day.  Thank goodness for teas and tinctures, and healing foods (and rest).  We are feeling better. As for our blogs being used for advertising on many websites, and so forth (I can't see any other reason for the source of views: howstuffworks, dominospizza, mayoclinic {not the blog readers interested in my actual blog}) the numbers continue to climb.  I have not found a way to "opt" out either.  If any of you find a new way to avoid this, blog elsewhere, find a new platform etc, please be sure to share.   If your blog has ads, you are are not going to complain, ha ha!  You are probably making a bucko-bucks with all these visitors to your blog. Okay, back to the update post . . .

16 Weeks Until Christmas

It's not hard to believe that we are traveling closer to the winter holidays.  I'm trying to focus on enjoying every single day until then, but I am fitting in a few snippets of holiday preparing.  Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year.  It's hard to believe it's the last day of August. I have not yet gotten rid of the links to all the advertisers using my blog posts, but again, still working on it. However, my profile has gone from my blog, and while I am in settings, it is not able to add as a "gadget" to the blog.  Weird things are happening.   Google had a data breach recently as well, so gmail users were advised to change passwords.  Not sure what else is going on, but just in case you are wondering why my "profile" is not on my blog any longer.   Okay, back to the Christmas countdown post . . .
