Mom and Patty

A big thank you to Vicki at Mom's Scribbles.  Your help was much needed.  We are in the works getting meals delivered from the local hospital (specifically designed for Mom's health), and she'll be getting a home health aide to come help with her legs and do blood draws in her own home.

Mom's memory is not that great, so the extra "eyes" on her and medical help will be great!

Update on my husband's sister.  Not good.  She has covid pneumonia as of yesterday.

Sorry for the short post.  I baked English Muffins yesterday to distract my brain, but they didn't turn out that great.  I should have been cleaning and prepping again for the floor project instead.  Anyway, I'm working on perfecting those buggers the next baking day.  I'll update on that when it happens.

I didn't want to deal with yet another strainer full of hot peppers either.  I sent them with my husband and he gave them to a co-worker.  We saved a small amount of fresh jalapenos though.  We've been chopping them and adding them to the beans I cooked up.

  1. Kristina...I am so very glad to hear that your Mom is getting the help she needs. As much as we want to help those we love, sometimes professional care is needed. The home health care has made a world of difference for me and I am sure they will be able to help your Mom as well.

  3. I was going to ask if your hospital does Meals on Wheels. I delivered those here for a number of years and everyone was so happy to get them. I am glad that yours does something similar.

    God bless.

  4. Hi Kristina - catching up on posts again! Have you looked at Brambleberry for soap supplies, including melt and pour goat's milk soap base?

  5. Or if you can find local goat's milk, it's much more economical to follow a recipe and make your own without the base. I get most of my soapmaking supplies from Brambleberry.

  6. Vicki, thank you again for your help. We all live in different towns, other than one brother. The extra help is a huge blessing.

  8. Debby, we used to make our own goat's milk soap, and the people that took my daughter's goats said they'd give us milk. However, they re-homed the goats and no one around us has dairy goats. I've tried for years. I will check on that name you mentioned. Thank you.

  10. Tracy, thank you. I wish we had access to goat's milk to make our soap, but we do not. We haven't raised dairy goats in many years. However, with the way the world is going, it may happen in our future.

  11. Debby Flowers, can I use my Mountain Rose Herbs essential oils in my soap base?

  12. Hi Kristina, I only use essential oils to scent my soap. Some essential oils hold up better in the soap making process than others - for example grapefruit hardly comes through at all. Lavender and many others work beautifully. I have never used a base, I would think that would not be so harsh on the essential oils as starting from scratch with lye, etc. I use 2 oz of EO in a 5 pound batch - gets kind of spendy! I recently made a new soap - some snowflake guest soaps for the holiday market. I used lavender with a little peppermint - 7 parts lavender to 1 part peppermint - really like the result!

  13. Debby thank you so much. I do miss our dairy goats, but my husband says no right now.
