Island Time

What do you do when there is a heat index warning out?  Well, you hop on the Harley and ride in it. Oye.  We participated in a bike run, which involved going to the island.  One of them.  Our favorite one.

The picture is us leaving on the ferry.  On the bike.  It was hot.  Very hot.  We survived.  We saw a few ambulances take a few people away, but we survived.  We also tucked in early.  The motel people put our air conditioner on 63°F. Boy it felt awesome.

We had to walk to town for a golf cart, but my smart husband paid a young kid $5 to drive us back to the motel when we returned it.

As for the bike run, we had to get our paper stamped by businesses over on the island then return it the next day for a drawing.  Today, they are drawing one lucky winner for a $1300.00 island package.

What's on the agenda today?  Weed, weed, weed, and weed.

Or sit in front of the fan on the porch and recoup.  I know one thing.  We are putting in our downstairs air conditioner.  There have been way too many heat waves this year.

  1. I've always enjoyed trips to Tybee Island off the coast of Georgia. We usually go in winter when no one is there.

  2. Harry, I may be getting to GA one of these days to visit Jekyll Island. Tybee sounds fun too. Thanks for visiting my blog today too!

  4. Susan, it was actually cooler there than at the homestead too. Yep. A very good time.

  5. Yes that's hot, but an AC is a good investment. We'd be pretty uncomfortable is our 100+ summer temps! But at least it's dry here, no humidity!
