Cider Vinegar Candy
Mix together:
2 cups of granulated sugar
1/2 cup organic apple cider vineger
2 teaspoons of organic butter
Heat in a sauce pan until the temperature reaches 275°F.
Pour the heated mixture onto your buttered pan. Allow it to completely cool. Break the candy into pieces and enjoy.
I used a metal (sided) pizza tray and the candy mixture filled the pan. It created a thin candy, and it is very good. You could even dust these with a bit of powdered sugar also.
This recipe will be added to our Christmas baking list, and for a quick and frugal candy that we can make anytime.
Wow, where do you find all these cool recipes?!? So, does it taste vinegary at all?
ReplyDeleteWhat's the flavor like? Sweet and tart or?
ReplyDeleteIf I remember right it tastes alot like butterscotch.
DeleteI think it has a sweet taste due to the sugar used in it.
ReplyDeleteI seem to remember a version made with honey instead of sugar. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Maybe it was a combination of the two..? ~Tonia
ReplyDeleteTonia, I haven't come across a recipe using honey, but you probably could. There are recipes for throat drops made from honey.
ReplyDeleteUnknown, yes delicious.
ReplyDeleteMy son was writing about designing his own candy for an assignment, and this sounded close to his idea, so we stopped to make it. It didn't taste like he thought, but we still had fun making it! Thanks for posting your recipe!
ReplyDeleteQueen Alea, that is a neat assignment. Glad you enjoying making it. Thanks for stopping in.
