We grilled burgers and had a pickle party to taste all 3 different pickles I canned. We also have Fridge Pickles in the fridge. We all know what those taste like, so we popped the tops of 3 cans. Although, I did tell the family the pickles should really sit for a week, so the spices can do their work. we opened them anyway.
There really wasn't a bad winner today. The favorite was the 3-day pickle recipe, followed by the Super Easy Dill Pickles. The bread & butter recipe from the Blue ball book, came in last - best for eating on burgers etc. The others were terrific by themselves.
We each put several pickles on our burgers and chomped away. This was a huge step forward for me. Last year, I only made Fridge pickles, and didn't have enough to try canning them.
Another step forward for us, was making relish. We loved the sweat relish and the zucchini relish I canned. The Zucchini was a big hit with the pepper flavor in it. In fact we are going to make more.
