As someone who...Older post, but "yes". As someone who's not a teacher, but works in a public school, a very small percentage of kids use the "need the bathroom" request as a way to ditch class. I have seen groups of students "meet up" there on a regular basis (from different class rotations) at the same time. So, I keep an eye on who goes at my period, and the nurse is certainly good at letting us know who has health issues and need to go a lot. It's like anything else, there's a small few who abuse it. I don't "punish" kids with that. I actually encourage kids to drink lots of water at school.
