I don't like today's doctors. Not at all.

Good afternoon my blog friends!  I hope it continues to get better.  I could barely send an email this morning, as my eye is not healed completely.

Today was "day 2" of outpatient antibiotics.  Here is why.  I finally, finally got Hubby's doctor to looked at my first spider bite (for a second time).  I had a follow up, after getting 3 units of blood, and he checked all my levels and said the pneumonia was getting worse (even though I felt better).  So, he insisted the outpatient drugs.  At the same visit, I had "Dr. Red" with me (grad daughter), and she kept reminding him to look at the first bite.  He was rude and told her he was more concerned about what would keep me out of the hospital, and I'm thinking "Dude!  The damn spider bite is going to put me in the hospital if you don't look at it!"

He made "Dr. Red mad for sure.  At the very end of the appt., and after handing over much paperwork etc. he took me back to the room and looked.  First thing out of his mouth was, "Son of a #&@*!"  Seriously.

Dr. Red and I knew both were spider bites.  And for the record, I saw fang marks, and I shared gross photos with many nurses and friends.  All said, "Brown Recluse."

The other doctor insisted it was not a spider bite.  It was.  It was a spider bite gone bad, with doctors and nurses ignoring my pleas.  I'm on the hunt for another doctor already.

Hubby's insisted it was something else, and rubbed and swabbed and about put me into shock. By the way, when I first saw the bite, I put plantain on it several days while visiting the NP and then doctor.  It helped a lot.

In the middle of all this hoopla of horrors, I somehow got an eye infection.

The outpatient meds will help all heal up quickly.  I'm just eager to see the cough completely gone.  I have another blood work day tomorrow, so pray that the levels are in my favor or they take me hostage, and I don't think Hubby could handle that right now.  Nor I.

The garden remains unattended.  The flower beds are filled with weeds and thistle.

Hubby is stressed to the gills about how we'll pay for all these new medical bills, when we are still paying on our old ones.

Neither he nor daughter are getting overtime.

I do have some good news.  Happy mail arrived.  I'll post soon.

It was suggested by a friend to buy spider bug bombs for the house, but Hubby insists they are not healthy.  We'll use Home Defense, and make a round inside and outside the house foundation, then pull all the utility room drawers out, and spray inside there too.

Oh, good grief! Kristina, it just seems to go from bad to worse. I'm convinced that today either you or someone right with you has to be (HAS TO BE) your own advocate when you need medical treatment. The big thing about homeopathy or any other alternative medicine practice is that you have to look at the WHOLE picture . . . which the doctors (and nurses) haven't done in your case. Geesh. If a medical professional got short or upset or mad at me for what I was trying to communicate, I would find someone else immediately. Grrrr. What you've had to go through! Ugh.

Sending good wishes to you, my friend, that this is all over and done with soon.

Thanks for giving us all an update.

So sorry for you! We used sticky spider traps in our home and the worked great! One under every bed, in the kitchen and L room. Caught a lot! Could you sell some crafts on eBay for extra $?

I read back a half dozen posts to see what was going on. First, put Vicks Vaporub on the soles of your feet and put socks on to eliminate the cough so you can get some rest.

Second, I read about the farmer and poison. My friend and his cousin were teens when a crop duster in the 1940s deliberately dropped poison dust on them. Both boys were ill, one in hospital, both with pneumonia. It took my friend over six months to recover. He lost so much weight his pants were gathered onto his belt. He almost failed a whole grade and he was a good and conscientious student. Mention this to the doctor.

I hope you get better soon.

That seems to be the biggest problem with doctors today - they do NOT listen to their patients. They are too busy foisting pharmaceuticals on them and pushing them out the door. NEXT!!!

YIKES!!! Recluse bites are awful. From what I've read, not all natural repellants work for every spider because they all have somewhat different physiology. However, some recommend surrounding one's house with cedar mulch or/and an herb bed containing lavender, lemon balm, lemon verbena, lemon grass, eucalyptus and mint. A natural spider repellent spray can also be made by mixing 5-10 drops of any of the above essential oils and ¼ teaspoonful dish soap into 12 ounces of distilled water in a spray bottle.
Another good deterrent is having cats which are pretty good at routing out and killing/eating most kinds of bugs, though you don't want to spray with a toxic spray if you have cats that do so.
Sending prayers for you for sure.
God bless.
