The party is over ~ Back to the Garden

The party is over.  Thank goodness.  On a good note, the house is clean, so I can seriously rest today.   Other than dishes, and watering all of the gardens.  It will be a high in the low 90's today.  It's hard to believe we were still planting in the vegetable garden this very day of last year.  I didn't get my cabbage in, so it may not be too late.

Here is what I made - a double batch of homemade macaroni salad with herb garden green onions.  We love this stuff.

Meatless, overnight lasagna with home canned tomato sauce and organic cheeses.

Sweet potato salad with boiled farm eggs, herb garden green onions and organic ingredients.

A pan of baked mac n' cheese with my homemade condensed cheddar (organic) cheese soup, and homemade onion powder.

Not pictured:  a bunch of ham and cheese sliders with home canned pickles and condiments, home canned green tomato salsa with corn and black beans and tortilla chips, vegetarian baked beans, a crock pot of freezer-off the cob-corn, hot chicken dip and tortilla chips, chips, beverages and mints.  Ha, and a big ol' watermelon we totally forgot to slice up.

Even so, I got two motorcycle rides in as well, and we were whipped by the end of the night.  The first ride was to go get ice for the cooler, and the last ride was to return a forgotten purse to a campground, where we sat and talked with family and friends there.

And here is another fabulous caked baked by Hubby's niece.  There is only one tiny bit left of it today.

I'll admit, it was a pretty good day.  It was our first "party" inviting both sides of the family, along with friends, friends of the family, and of course our daughter's friends.  There was enough seating, a wonderful breeze, and enough food.  In fact, my older brother and his wife brought us a good load of salmon and bluegill (Hubby wants it for dinner tonight, and even wanted it last night, ha ha!).  And.  They brought a broccoli salad to help out with the party.  Whew!   Only one more daughter to graduate now.

My nephew and a few other kids, had a ball chasing chickens.  In fact, my nephew was trying to talk his dad into getting him one now, ha ha!

There is not a lick of macaroni and cheese, chicken dip, and only a little of the cold salads.  There is however, a lot of baked beans, so we sent some home with folks.

Hard to believe, but I picked two spears of asparagus yesterday.  As the heat rises, that may be the last two we'll get this year.

Thank you Yarrow. I had one of Daughter's friends tell me it was the best she ever tasted, and I baked it the day before too. Most won't reheat nicely, but this did.

I have no idea how you managed to get everything done AND make all that amazing food! It all looks so delicious! I hope you get to take a well-deserved day off!

Susan, I am back in the garden and in the kitchen. Whew! The kids did all my dishes, and it was nice not to have to deal with dirty dishes on the party day as well. Now the same daughter is turning 18 in a week or so, and has already requested my other Mac n' Cheese recipe for her birthday. At least the cake for the party was made my someone else (and from scratch, using applesauce).

Kristina, the food looks so delicious. Congratulations on getting the party all organized and having a good time! I could eat that entire dish of mac and cheese, RIGHT NOW. :) The cake looks wonderful! Your niece is very talented! Is it her trade?

Rain, she has a full time job, but makes cakes on the side. She gets many orders though.
