Amazing Friday ~ Re-Purpose ~ Random Homestead Happenings

Hubby took the day off work on Friday, so we could get an important appointment completed.  It worked out well.  One of my cousins flew in from CA, and brought her partner.  Somehow, we got almost everyone together in one place and had lots of laughs and had a wonderful dinner. Photos were taken, and it was sad to depart.  Hubby and I even got a motorcycle ride in as well.

I decided to recycle a bathroom stand (no longer needed) by spray painting it.  It was a "dust collector" for bathtub salts etc.  Those are now stored in a wooden box on the tub ledge.  Less to dust.

It's now going to be an outside summer plant stand.  I love flowers, so now I can "gussy" up another entry way this summer.

We spent yesterday cutting wood and picking up all the branches and limbs that came down over winter.  We fired up the mower, and our youngest was taught how to mow our 6 acres.  Believe it or not, I felt great (no pain, no achy back,etc.).  I was proud of her too.  She thanked us for getting her out of the house, ha ha!

I almost had some wonderful news, but that is delayed.  We were setting up a date to fell trees, and Hubby even called the equipment rental to reserve the lift.  Oye.  Sure enough someone had it reserved next weekend.  Oh the frustrated sigh that expelled.  We were so close to moving forward on this project.  Say a prayer, send good thoughts.  He's focused on it after picking up all those branches and chainsawing up the 20 foot limbs it dropped.

My heirloom tomatoes are up.  The real test will be when I take them out of here and plant them into larger containers.
We are using daylight only right now.

The egg production is back in swing.  Again, no Araucana eggs.  Hm.  I washed them up to boil.  We loved having boiled eggs in salads, sandwiches, and snacks.

What's been on the breakfast plate lately?  Pumpkin pancakes made with some garden pumpkin puree.  Delicious!  I used the last bit of batter to treat the pups.  We make little pancakes for them.  Old man Jesse got two.

So who's is the picture of the yard clean-up?

You're ahead of me on your tomato seedlings. I just got mine planted on Friday.

Thanks for the reminder to boil up some eggs. Hubby doesn't like them plain, but on salads or made into egg salad or deviled eggs and he will gobble them up. I like them with salt and pepper as a snack.

Have you used einkorn flour for pancakes? We think it makes the best pancakes we've ever had.

Good luck on the tree removal project . . . soon!

Mama Pea, from left to right, our 17 year-old, Zuri laying on the ground because she insisted on sunning, our 15 year-old in the back of the truck, and Hubby, I helped too, but went in to get water so I snapped a photo. I almost used the einkorn for the pumpkin pancakes, but wanted to make the original recipe first to compare. I'll be thawing more pumpkin, because we loved them. I will have to use einkorn next.

Hi Kristina! So nice to see photos of you all! :) I'm glad you didn't have pain, it's so good to spend a day outside doing chores and not limping back to house after lol...your pancakes look so good!

That picture made me miss my farm when the kids and I would be out working together on a project like that! Enjoy!
