500.8 pounds of tomatoes this year!

I made one last visit to the tomatoes.  I promised myself to not even think about getting more harvested, and just pull the darn plants.  I put the last of the grape tomatoes into the dehydrator, and pulled some green tomatoes.  Even the green tomatoes are starting to look bad, so I'm ready to get them pulled.  I pulled one plant and stake today.  It's a measly start on 100-some plants, ha ha!  The grand total of our tomato harvest, as of yesterday, was 500.8#!

I told the kids I'll not do that again.  They all laughed at me.

I dug the very last of the sweet potatoes and red potatoes.  I was surprised at how well the sweet potatoes did, considering I didn't plant very many.

Not everything grew well this year.  The fingerling potatoes we planted very, very late produced a scant amount (first time growing them for us).  The spaghetti squash gave me about 4 more, and the mini-butternut only gave me about 4 mini's.  I think I like the larger butternut anyway for now.

Our peanuts look pretty good!  These are in about a 1/2 inch shell, and small.  They say to leave them on the plant until the leaves crumble and then remove the peanuts.

The bug population has soared.  Yesterday, after I did all my garden work to prepare, I let Sparta and the ladies out.  Of course they haven't discovered the tomato patch yet (darn).  I'll have to call them over to it with my "treat" call and see if they go bananas on the plants and rid the garden of the bugs.

Oh, there is more to pull from the garden yet, but it's somewhat in the safe-zone from the chickens.

Wow! Amazing production! I like that you're kids laughed...I was laudghing too...sorry. The peanuts are fascinating. I've heard they grow well here in AR too but I haven't tried them. I remember my Mother growing them.

That has got to be a record! I couldn't even imagine what to do with that many tomatoes. Glad you got such a good harvest, though.

Susan, tomatoes did excellent, while other things did not. No pumpkins, hardly any squash, no cantaloupe etc. It makes me wonder what will do good next year, ha ha!

We've had stink bugs aplenty following the hurricane. The indoor cats have been attacking them at the windows and doors trying to get them though the bugs are climbing on the outside. I hang flat items out to dry on the line, and I've had to be careful to shake them out before bringing them in, and even with that, I found a half dozen dead ones in the bottom of the dryer after drying one load that didn't entirely dry outside. Yuck!!!
I'm fighting a head and chest cold, one of the little hazards of working with money and the public. LOL I try to be vigilant with the hand sanitizer without overdoing it, but let's face it, a person incubating something yet not showing symptoms can be standing right next to you anywhere.
Prayers everyone's having a great week, and a safe one too.
God bless.

RB, I hand pants inside out, then turn them inside right when I bring them in (stick bugs like to hide in them). I hope you are feeling much better soon.

Our paternal Grandmother use to do that with socks. I wonder if it was for the same reason.
God bless.
