Snow ~ From the Handiwork Journal . . .

The weather dropped in digits on Saturday.  I was not ready for that.  It was raining and cold.  And a bit windy.  I guess in our parts, our garden season just got shorter.

And on Sunday?

It snowed.  Timmy was not happy either, as you can see.  Snow in May?  Unbelievable!  I refused to start a fire, even though we still had wood on the porch.  Crazy I say.  Just crazy.

I am glad that I have not been able to plant anything more in the garden yet.  It's been a combination of the last two years - cold temps and too much rain.

Progress is being made on the scrap crochet blanket.  It's coming along nicely.  I am simply grabbing the next yarn in the basket, so there is no color plan other than "scrap" and use it up. It's been my "go-to" project on these colder nights we've been having.

The granny square baby blanket is still being worked on.  I take it to the porch when I have free time.  No photo, as I am not good friends with it yet.

I have started another baby blanket for my younger brother's wife.  They are expecting a baby girl this fall, and I am certain I can finish this pattern by then (not so on the granny blanket).

I'm continuing to work on the new seat cushion coversIt's been my most recent porch project (but slow going).

I have another dishcloth on my knitting needles.

I started looking at patterns for Christmas presents, and started one, which had to be taken all the way out by myself.  It was previously taken all the way out by King, who hooked his head under the thread and out it went.  All the way around the house.  Sigh.  I still love him.

A picture of king unraveling your handwork project would have been one to have! Animals!! You're right though, still gotta love 'em.

No frost this morning . . . not like the past two mornings. We've been having rain and they've forecast possible snow (which wouldn't be unusual for us) but happily that hasn't happened.

Our "normal" gardening season is much shorter than ours so even though you're getting a late start, I can guarantee you'll still have time to grow just about anything you want. I'm sure your fall nice weather lasts longer than ours, too. So don't get totally discouraged yet, my friend.

Thanks for those kind words of encouragement Mama Pea. I sure hope we get a good harvest. King can be the most adorable dog, yet most annoying at the same time. That thread went through the kitchen and the living room. He was confused as I was chasing after him screaming for him to stop. Ha ha!

Oh! I should be crocheting... I've got a brand new grand-daughter and I started a sweater for her at her birth... and sadly, she's probably outgrown it already!
I'm wondering if I should start over and make a bigger one for the fall!?!? where did the time go?
Then we have another, yes another baby coming in July... mommy has requested something special for it (boy/girl?)
...and look at that!!!
I can't believe it's snowing where you are!
Crazy weather.

Beautiful projects. I think I like the scrap yarn ones the most, because because they recycle what some might toss away and they're truly one of a kind. The pup probably just wanted to help. Yeah, that's it. LOL
We've had cold and rain here. I love it. It's giving the planted things here a chance to settle in well before the oppressive hot months come.
Hope everyone's having a great week.
God bless.

Patricia, I am having a hard time keeping up with crochet (or knit) work now that spring has arrived. Yes, that snow was a shocker.
