Asparagus ~ Garden Blunder Take 3 ~ Birthday

Our asparagus is coming in now.  We are excited and can't wait to have a grill out and enjoy it.

I do have to share something though.  Remember how Hubby ran over my heirloom bean plants with the lawn mower one year?  Chasing chickens?  Remember the year he picked all of my pinto beans when he thought they were string beans?  He picked every single one of them.

Well, I was in the kitchen one day (this was before I planted potatoes and peas), and heard the mower start up.  I went into panic mode.  I looked at my 19 year-old daughter and said, "He better not have mowed down my asparagus!"

She laughed.  The kids know he can pull something like that.

I ran out the back door.  Phew.  He had not mowed down my asparagus.  It's fenced with a short fence, but I wanted to make sure he saw it.  Just the other day I realized what he did mow down.   My kale.  Sigh.  Every year he pulls a garden blunder, so this better be his last, ha ha!  It should grow back, and I do have more seeds.  Thank goodness the collards are in a raised bed.

I'm going to need very large garden markers.

Today is my Son's birthday.  He turns 24 today.  I'm busy baking a carrot cake, and have organic ice cream.  It's raining out, so I am busy in the kitchen today too.

I think you said it: You are going to need very large garden markers!!

We've had some of the same kind of things happen here, too. Guess it's inevitable. When we're the ones who work in the garden and know every nook and cranny of it intimately, it's hard to realize someone else doesn't know it as well as we do. It's still frustrating when the oopsies happen though. Thank heavens he didn't mow down the asparagus!

Sending birthday greetings to your son. My birthday is next week!

Yes all sounds familiar my hubby is not very good on the garden front and has made similar blunders in the past now he knows not to touch anything without checking with me not even a nettle :-)

Dawn, I guess I better mark things better or tell him not to touch unless he asks first, ha ha!

Garden blunders happen around here all the time too!
Happy birthday to your son!

The sun came out and I hope it dries up all the puddles... we're pretty wet!

Patricia, it's been raining for two days here. I hope it dries up fast too.

Sounds like you need large garden markers...and maybe a whip. LOL
Our Dad was bad at mowing down our Mom's flowers too. I remember one year he mowed an entire bed of irises and another time he mowed down a peony bush. It was like he hated flowers or something. Yet to my knowledge, he never mowed down a single thing our Grandmother planted, and she planted many flowers and trees throughout the property, so who knows.
Prayers everyone has a great safe weekend.
God bless.

RB, Hubby ran over a rose bush once too, but it was small. Ha ha! Thanks.
