Weeding ~ The Stories....

Hubby and I planted tomatoes until we literally ran out of room.  I have to wait until we till up the last area to plant.

Timmy joined me in the herb garden.
He stayed the entire time I weeded it, and then some.  The school bus drove in, and he still slept away.  He just made me smile, and made my weeding job much more enjoyable.

I typically don't run the barn cats out when they do crawl in to cool off.  I have enough chives to fill several freezers, so I let them have their cooling off spot.

Peanut (goat) is still getting her morning munch time, and many times later in the day.  I tied Rue out yesterday, but he has anxiety when he's too far from his ladies (he's our wether).  They are chewing down the small trees for me too. Yay!

Oh the stories my kids can tell to their kids!

Hubby was already snoring, and all the sudden the dogs started barking like crazy.  I could hear them in the living room, so whatever it was it was out front or close to the front of the house.

I walked through the kitchen and I see one daughter on the front porch and one at the door.  They were all laughing.

Then, all the sudden I see a big shadow of an animal on the front porch.  Now I have always said the porch is the place to visit, but I don't think I ever invited Daughter's Billy!

Orion broke his tie out last night.  By the way, he's already chewed his entire circle area down since we moved him last (my gas free mower).

Anyway, I completely forgot to give him a new tie out after winter.  The moisture causes it to rust and eventually it breaks.  I guess I've been so busy to even think about it.

The funniest part is that I left a few pairs of Hubby's jeans on the clothesline. They were still a bit wet (put up late).  Orion tried to eat a pair, ha ha ha!  Oh we got a good laugh about all of it.  Orion even tried to come in the front door!

I'm just glad he still comes to the door to tell us he is loose.  I think I should write a kid's book about him, he's given us so many funny stories to tell.  And my artistic kids can illustrate it, ha ha!  Heck, we could throw in the chickens, and barn cats in the story too.  And maybe a black water snake, an injured hawk, a great horned owl (that got in the barn), and a huge snapping turtle!

Today's day is a bit discombobulated, due to the early wet dew, but I'm okay with that.  I have bills to pay, a toilet to scrub, butter to "churn" and by golly, I'm taking time to write today.  Tomatoes can go in later tonight.

Sounds like the makings of a great book! Lots better that your billy comes to the door, than goes out on the road. How many tomato plants are you putting out? Sounds like you are going to have a bumper crop this year!

Susan, 108 tomatoes - a variety of paste and large ones. Last year we planted about 50 and our yield was awesome. If it's double, I'll need more jars, he he!

Thanks Katmom, he was a drop off with a very badly bloody tail (around Halloween time one year). We nursed him back to health and he stayed. He's fixed, so he doesn't fight with strays, but he does an excellent job and running more strays off the property. He's an excellent mouser too. He loves to be held.

I'm coming to your house around tomato harvesting time this year! I've never been able to grow enough tomatoes up here to can my year's supply of tomato products. :o( You should have that (105 tomato plants!?) and more!

Your "attack cat" knows when he's got a good thing going and doesn't want any old stray cats coming into his territory!

This year I am planting basil all around the tomatoes, so I hope I have less worm trouble. Hoping for a good harvest. Timmy is so funny. He has a stray cornered in a barn, and we never saw it again, ha ha!

Love your helper!
We just got our raised beds cleaned out. When the rain stops, we will start planting.

Sandra, we are getting rain now too.

Emma, he broke the back up tie out today. I best get to the store and buy a new one quick!

Sounds like you could write a great children's book about the critters.

Orion sounds like maybe he gets a bit lonely. I hope he always comes to the front door when he gets loose, straight to the front door at that, and doesn't go anywhere near the road. That would be sad.

Glad he didn't eat any of your vegies or herbs. They love that stuff as much as we do. LOL

God bless.

Orion is actually closer to the ladies since we've moved him. I think he got a bite of lettuce, that that's all. Unless I have a rabbit problem, in which I put glass jars upside down in there (just in case - my Grandma's old trick).

Glass jars?
Haven't heard that one.
Do tell.
God bless.

My Grandma put glass jars upside down (empty) near the plants. The rabbits will see their reflection, get scared, and run off before chewing down the plant.

Interesting. Gonna have to try that. Did it work?
God bless.
