Sittin' Pretty

I happened to look out the back window, and I spotted a small, bright red moving object.

By the time I had gotten my camera, and zoomed in, he flew away.  I was talking to myself (and the bird), and asked for one simple photograph, when all the sudden he flew to the patio.

I thanked him kindly, and he flew off into the trees.  We see many more cardinals in winter than in summer for some reason.  Maybe they just hide in the trees over summer better than in winter?

Other than shoveling out the mailbox, that was my winter (entertainment) highlight.  Oh, and I made a trip to the library.  I have my missing book.  Oddly, I'm told (after I inquired) it was swept up into a pile of cookbooks that one librarian was using for her "cookbook" event. Hm.  I'm not buying it.  Either way, they know I know it was canceled from my account.  I'm a very good customer at the library as well.

In the cookbook I have already found a "butter" recipe to make for slathering onto summer grilled steaks (and/or baked sweet potatoes).  And that was just found by flipping through it.  I  hope to get more time to read it today.

If you are wondering, Sadie is still with us.  Yesterday, she had a very bad day.  Daughter's cat is also still with us, although her tumor has grown more, and eating is difficult for her.  It's tough to see two pets with cancer, and at the same time.

As for me, I'm have a strong motivation to focus on writing today.  I do believe it is due to finishing all those pesky projects already.  January is almost over, and I have wasted so many days not getting anything written (other than my blog).  I need to get some cards and/or letters written as well this week.

We have a beautiful sunrise this morning, so I am praying that means we are blessed with more sunshine.  Well....I better get this day started.

The Cardinal is beautiful and I agree with you, we are seeing many more this winter than we usually do. It seems all I am seeing at my feeders are Cardinals and Blue Jays!

Thanks Kim. They are very pretty, especially when it's all white outside.

I love to sit and watch the birds - until the mourning doves arrive and vacuum up all the seed. I am trying to get myself motivated to do something creative - other than knit. It's not easy. Good luck with your writing!

Susan, we get lots of the doves here too. I don't see many blue birds either. Hopefully you'll get motivated with some activity. Hubby told me I was not allowed to knit or crochet, but I am (ha ha, he thinks my hands need a break).

Beautiful pictures of the cardinal. I'm like you...so many things to do and not enough hours in the day. I cannot relate to people who say they are bored. I feel sorry for them although I tend to have too many "irons in the fire" most days.

Sam I am, I agree. When my kids say they are bored, I have a list of things for them, ha ha!
