Yesterday, you could hear a pin drop in the house, when normally it would be filled with chitter chatter, laughter, screaming, running through the house, and dogs barking.
It was one of those days when you feared giving a hug, because it would induce a bucket full of tears.
Thankfully, we have other dogs and cats (and a rabbit) that kindly give therapy to those in need. Jesse seems to be the top therapy dog for Oldest Daughter. Even the barns cats are providing therapy.
Getting through it is the toughest part. Accepting it.
A dozen golden yellow roses are on the table in remembrance of Sadie.
We'll be keeping her (Oldest Daughter) busy today, as we load the porch with wood. We are gearing up for a big storm. It's not going to be as bad as the East coast, but it will bring more than six inches of snow.
I think a nice roasted chicken is in order for a comforting dinner tonight.
It's the last day of January, and my netting is not completely cut into strips. Maybe after we get the wood re-stocked, I can meet my personal deadline on that project.

Staying busy is a good thing and luck that on a farm that is easy to do. Still remembering your daughter.
I planted a rose bush or flowering shrub for our lost animal companions (in the summer), that gave us some comfort later...

The other animals may be missing Sadie too. I've found they do know when one has passed. They seem to endure it stoically, fully understanding what has happened, but I believe they have feelings just like we do, and they may be drawing close for comfort from us too.
How blessed to be able to draw so close to others of His creation, to see how very much He loves us, that He sends other ways, other means, of loving us, comforting us and encouraging us.
