Week of Events

We had a computer blooper yesterday morning, so I did not get anything posted.  Sorry.  Not much going on here anyway.  Nothing exciting, funny, or interesting.  Although youngest had a duet in a recent school (in-school) choir concert.

We haven't baked one Christmas cookie recipe this year, and I'll be honest.  I'm not missing it.  The sugar that is.  The girls tell me they will make a few recipes to take with us to gatherings, but we'll see.  I do need to get buckeyes made, as it is the only thing my Dad asks for, for Christmas.

(2012 cake I baked and frosted)

Youngest has a birthday in a few days, and we haven't baked a homemade birthday cake for two years now.  She's opted for alternatives, and this year asked for a peppermint pie.

It's just that week of the year, where we have a birthday, Christmas, and our wedding anniversary, all wrapped up in one week.

Hubby has to work on our anniversary, so planning anything is a bit complicated.  We may end up scheduling ourselves an Island trip later, and celebrating a wee bit later that usual.

Just to torture me, he kept looking at photos from our last trip to the island.

If you are wondering, my hands have not turned into curled up messes from massive crochet work.  If I can get this project done in time, I'm going to treat myself with a hand wax treatment, all out home spa treatment, followed whatever pampering activities I can drum up.  There is the possibility that it won't get finished before Christmas too.  Today we have to split wood and restock in preparation for the bad weather rolling in.

Wow! Ever consider cake decorating as a profession!?

Our family has kinda strayed away from traditional birthday cakes, too. Hubby requests a blueberry pie (in August) and I like a Banana Cream Pie (in April) and daughter in July has been varying her requests. No problem, you can stick a candle in a pie, too!

You've really built up a lot of eager suspense regarding your big crocheting project. Can't wait to see it!

Nice cake! My doc suggested soaking my hands in warm epsom salts water when I have a lot of soreness/stiffness, you try that too?

Thanks Nancy, I will try that too for my hands. Sounds like good relief.

Mama Pea, I learned to decorate from watching my Mom, who did take lessons. My girls and I have inherited all of Mom's decorating books and tools. The girls do make cakes once in a while too.

Beautiful cake! How many years have you been married? Happy Anniversary to you two. And Happy birthday to the birthday girl. And Merry Christmas to all!

Wow, that cake looks like it's screaming "HAPPY!!" Beautiful :)

Carolyn, I sometimes get a bit carried a way when decorating (ha ha!)

Kim, this week we'll be married 16 years (second marriage for both of us - his, mine, and ours).

That's a beautiful home decorated cake. I've never had the knack or patience for that, but our youngest Sister decorated all her boy's cakes when they were little, and she did a great job too.

It IS a very busy time of year, and I'm getting word of many illnesses going about too, probably from visitors carrying bugs to and fro throughout the country. We experience that every time there's a return from college breaks because there are so many colleges and universities nearby.

Prayers everyone feels better by CHRISTmas and has a wonderful holiday with family and friends.

God bless.

I wish I could decorate a cake like that....what a beauty!
Is the "island" warm this time of year? I thought it was a local place or close to home anyway. As long as they have heat! LOL!
I have lots of birthdays too, 2 son's, my Mom but she's passed and myself and a SIL. I hope you are rested up enough to enjoy the holidays.

RB, prayers for a wonderful Christmas for you and your family too.

Sam I am, the "island" is not warm this time of year, and I would have to take a ferry across ice covered waters. We plan to go in the spring hopefully.
