Dog emergency. . .

This morning was completely different.  It's not my normal chore/work day here.  I woke up to one dog not herself.  I could tell by one look.

Instead of coming right back inside (when I took her out), Sadie simply laid down half way to the door.  Immediately I knew something was really wrong.  Yesterday she was fine when I walked her.  In fact, while walking her, I looked down and saw her carrying her leash in her mouth (walking herself).

So, first thing on the agenda was to call the vet.  She had to be left there.  Blood was drawn, and x-rays to follow, and I'm sitting on "pins and needles" waiting to get a call from the vet.

With my morning barn chores delayed, I quickly got animals watered and fed, and brought one watering unit in to thaw.

Of all days (wind chill is pretty chilly), the wood stove was let to go out over night, and I didn't have time to re-start it before zooming off to the vet.  Its now back in action thankfully, but we are all worrying over Sadie.

And of all the dogs to have out with me, while hunters shoot very close to the homestead, I now have Jesse under my feet.  Poor guy.

Until the vet calls, I must keep myself busy.  Keep Sadie in your prayers please.

Saying a prayer for Sadie and for the family. I know how hard it is when our furbabies are sick. You are doing the right thing though by staying busy. it is not only the best thing for you but the perfect example for the kids to see. Keep us posted please.

I hope that Sadie pulls through - it is so stressful, the waiting. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Sadie and your family.

Please let us know as soon as you know something about Sadie. Don't you really, really wish they could talk when they're sick? Much like having a child who is too young to tell you what's wrong.

Sending out good vibes to Sadie. The waiting is the worst. I hope you can busy yourself with other things to keep the grief from getting to you.

Oh Kristina, I am so sorry you are going through this, they really do become like our children don't they?

I am praying for Sadie, please let us know how she is.
