Happy Homemaker Monday

I'm joining Sandra at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom today.

The weather outside is. . .
Gorgeous.  Cool, but sunny and breezy.

Breakfast time, what is on the plate this morning. . . .
   Toast with honey, coffee.

As I look outside my window . . .
I am reminded I need to get out and water the animals.  The sun is shining beautifully, and the dogs are pacing to get out in it.  A truck delivering porta-toilets is in my driveway, looking confused as to where he's to deliver them.  Hm..

Right now I am . . .
Posting this blog, sipping another cup of java, procrastinating the mucking of the chicken coop, so I can get 1,200 more words written today.   I'm also writing down the most important items on our "winter prep" list.

As I look around the house. . .
It's an "ahhh" moment.  Tables are finally cleaned off and we can all sit at them without struggle, ha ha!

On today's to-do list. . .

laundry out on the line
make the bed
take trash out
water chickens/goats
let goats out
let chickens out, collect eggs
stack more wood on the porch
bake pumpkin muffins
dinner prep
sweep kitchen
vacuum
Write at least 1,700 words today (500 already done)
Take returns to the library, pick up holds
clean cat box
sweep bathroom
muck chicken coop
rinse and soak black beans for tomorrow
mix up a batch of homemade pumpkin pie spice

Currently reading. . .
A big stack of books from the library - mostly about herbs, medicinal herbs, teas, and natural remedies

On the TV. . .
Not much. Hubby is working a lot of overtime, so I am spending my evenings with handiwork.

On the menu this week. . .
It's all spontaneous this week.  Freezer, canned, put-it-together meals.

What I am creating at the moment. . .

A 50,000 word novel, a crocheted cat blanket, tape dispenser Christmas tree ornaments, and a few handmade gifts.

New recipe I tried, or want to try this week. . .
Not sure if you can call it a "new recipe" or not.  The kids reminded me about some pumpkin muffins I made last year that were "huge" and "moist" and "awesome."  I can't find a recipe in my box, so I must have used one from the internet.  I'll be trying one today hopefully.

Favorite photo from the camera. . .

. . .because one day the big barn will not be there.  Taking photos now, before it's down.

Prayers, Inspirational Quotes or Devotionals

The barn has to come down? Darn. The roofs on those old barns are usually the first thing to go and signal the demise of the rest of the structure, but in your picture the roof still looks to be in good shape. My fantasy is to have a big barn like that on our property . . . hay mow on top and animal stalls, milk room, feed room, storage, etc. on the bottom.

Mama Pea, half of the roofing on both sides is gone from past storms, and the loft fell inward during that stormy year we lost the roof on the other barn (which we re-roofed). The sides are caving out on the big one, so it's not even safe to go in anymore. We had made attempts to keep it up, but it's been rained on and most of the beams ruined.
