Weekend Fun ~ Back to the Grind

We earned two free nights at the campground.  Not knowing how the weather will be in October, we decided to go.  We still came home during the daytime (some of it anyway) to get work completed.

We enjoyed the campfire again, on quiet cool evenings.

I wrote oldest Daughter a letter. Talked to Son until my cell phone battery died, and found out he'll start his next training next week.

We enjoyed the warmth of the camper on those cool nights, which were cool enough for a heater.

Hubby and I love to come up with fun names for ourselves, especially names the kids get embarrassed over (ha, ha!).  The next game, youngest played with me, she wrote "Mama Bear" and "Baby Bear."

Delicious hot coffee and a warm sunrise.

I picked up a few leaves to press.  I have a plan for these this year.  More on that later (I hope).

More cards games.

We opted to walk trails that required less up an down terrain, and a bit shorter this time.

Not much changing in the way of color yet.  Maybe in a few weeks.  There were some trees turning yellow and a bit of red, but no gorgeous oranges yet.

My own zentangle art.  I love to doodle.  We keep supplies in the camper.

Zentangle art of our youngest's work.  The paper looks blue, but it was just the time of afternoon, and the lighting outside.

I'm still working on a project for oldest daughter.  I'm using the afghan stitch for the main pieces.

So what got done at home in between all that R & R?  Well, we got the septic cap dug out.  That job saves us $40.00 off our bill to have it emptied.  Regular work was the only thing getting done (laundry, animals, dishes, etc.)  Other than that we really have to hit the list hard this week.  Will Hubby hold up? We'll have to see.   I hope I can help us stick to the list.  They seem to be branching out into several lists lately.

This camping trip, I took along my laptop, and cranked out 1,300 words.  I've sparked my writing engines into gear, and will be putting aside time for this every day now.

I got all of my Dakota Black popcorn picked. husks removed, and in a box.  I got about one ear per stalk, and a few grew two or three.  We only planted four short rows this time, but will increase that next year.

I'll place the ears of corn in the sun on hot sunny days and rotate the ears of corn.  Then come heating season, the wood burner will dry it out it no time.

Youngest helped remove the husks on the porch with Hubby and I.  She said, "did we really grown this?" and she was serious.  She had no idea I planted it.  I'm glad we did, since my Grandmother grew popcorn, I wanted to carry on the tradition, and provide a healthy snack for us.   I also want my kids to know that you don't have to buy everything at the grocery store, and have the knowledge of chemicals/pesticides, and GMO's.

Well, the sun is rising, but things are very wet out this early. I'm tackling work indoors until the sun dries things up a bit. It's a bit foggy out this morning.

Sounds like a fun weekend. That is the only way I get R and R, smalls dibs in between chores. Love the zentangles! I love to doodle to.

Thanks Kim, my artsy daughter was actually impressed with my zentangle this time.
